An introduction for beginning readers to the forces of evil that are the Decepticons.

Synopsis

[edit]

The evil Decepticons have landed on Earth! After adopting military vehicles as disguises, they go on the offensive. Blackout attacks a military base. Skorponok skulks around in the desert, hunting down human soldiers. Frenzy shuts down all the computers. He then joins up with Barricade to look for trouble. Megatron soon finds the Allspark and calls his Decepticons to join him. Though they are a fearsome force, the Decepticons are opposed by the Autobots. Megatron takes a hit, forcing the Decepticons to retreat from Earth.

Notes

[edit]
  • As might be expected, Megatron is drawn with his original concept face. It does not take well to being made cutesy.
  • Bonecrusher is sporting a different head as well, taken from an earlier concept design.
  • Frenzy transforms into a different CD player than the one in the movie. In this book, his alt mode looks more like Blaster with a CD player in place of a tape deck!
  • Frenzy also seems to have a lot of powers that aren't mentioned in other appearances: a scream that can shut down computers and the ability to turn into Barricade's car stereo. The latter would explain how Frenzy manages not to be in Barricade during Sam's interrogation, as well as his ejection from Barricade's chest.
  • Scorponok is consistently written out as "Skorponok."
  • No mention is made of Megatron being killed, though he is shown taking a hit to the chest from the All Spark, with the only text being "Megatron takes a hit!" In the book's original print, the story concludes with the "remaining Decepticons" retreating into space. When it was collected in "Roll Out and Read Adventures," the text omitted the word "remaining."
  • Yes, you read that right. Illustrated by Guido Guidi.
