- SG-Ironhide (Defender Version, 2025)
- Series: Galaxy Version Defender 02 - The Overthrow
- Accessories: Pistol
- Released for the second wave of the Defender Version line of blind boxes, Blokees Shattered Glass Ironhide is a 2.2-inch (5.5cm) articulated, and non-transforming "chibi-style" snap-on model kit redecoed from the previous wave's Glittering Ironhide, and he's a few inches smaller than the Galaxy Version kits, but still articulated. He only comes with the generic pistol used by other Defender kits.
- Like most of the larger Galaxy Version kits, Ironhide features a simple neck joint that is colored to match his optics, allowing it to be see-through from his head's eye holes.
Notes
[edit]
- In Fun Publications' stories, Ironhide's body is a black "virtual redeco" of his Generation 1 counterpart's Universe Deluxe Class body. The black coloration could be considered both a nod to the Diaclone coloration of the original Ironhide mold, and to the 2007 live-action movie Ironhide.[1] Both had been recently homaged by Encore Ironhide Protect Black.
- In IDW Publishing's comic series, Ironhide appears as a "virtual redeco" of the Earthrise Deluxe Class Ironhide toy. If you are wondering, the coloration is fairly close but does not quite match the Generations Selects Deluxe Class DK-2 Guard toy.
- While never identified as Ironhide, a generic Autobot seen in the early war flashbacks in the original Shattered Glass issue bears more than a passing resemblance to the character. Based on comments made about the real Ironhide's deco by Jesse Wittenrich, and the fact that this generic gets blasted by Megatron, they most likely were not intended to be the actual Ironhide. Although Optimus does refer to Ironhide as an "old friend", so his presence during the early war would make sense.

[edit]- ↑ "He was originally just meant as a bit of a background character/filler so there wasn't much reference made for him. In his 2008 appearance though, he was all black & gray (A 2007 Movie Ironhide nod). Then in 2012, the red was added (A Diaclone nod)."—Jesse Wittenrich, Twitter, 2022/04/08
