Armorhide is an Autobot from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
If Bill Hicks were an Autobot...

Before the war with the Decepticons, Armorhide was a stand-up comic, performing most of his shows in the great hall of Altihex. But when Altihex was destroyed in a Decepticon raid while Armorhide was touring other cities, Armorhide joined the Autobot ranks, eager for revenge.

His comedy and desire to make people laugh sometimes seem at odds with his nature on the battlefield; he is a tough, merciless fighter who gets angry and frustrated when things seem to turn against the Autobots. It's possible his anger at a mission that doesn't run perfectly is somehow related to his time as a comedian... on the stage or in the trenches, he gives his all to get the desired result, be it a standing ovation or the destruction of his enemies.

Timelines

Armorhide joined up with Longrack and the crew of the Spanner looking for Cyber Planet Keys and lost colony worlds in the Delta Draconis sector. What they found was a mass graveyard, a planet littered with the corpses of more than a half-dozen different robot factions, based on Autobot and Decepticon ideals. Armorhide aptly nicknamed it the "Apocalypse Planet". Assigned to search for viable radio transmissions, Armorhide had barely begun before his teammate Blurr got into a firefight, prompting the rest of the team to investigate.

The fight was with Whirl, a private in one of the Autobot descendant factions of Combatron, and his Mini-Con allies. Once both sides got their stories straightened out, they realized there was a greater threat on the horizon — the Decepticons had landed on Combatron, and had located a doomsday arsenal, ripe for the picking. Armorhide and the team went out to intercept the 'Cons, but they had already begun raiding the arsenal. One swipe from Swindle and his nucleon shock gauntlets sent Armorhide flying through the air. Although Blurr managed to swipe the gauntlets on a high-speed run past the Decepticons, the Autobots were still overwhelmed by a swarm of Decepticlones produced by the drone generator Brushguard and his team uncovered.

Armorhide was the only Autobot to remain free, and he tried to make his way back to the Spanner only to be cut off by a squadron of Decepticlones. Combining his Cyber Key Power with the purloined shock gauntlets, Armorhide fought against massive odds and finally managed to break through the Decepticlone lines when the gauntlets overloaded and detonated, taking most of his hand with them. Armorhide still remained in good humor, however, and made efforts to share the punch-line with Brushguard's Decepticons...by dropping the Spanner out of the sky right on top of their highly-explosive munitions cache and doomsday arsenal. Ha HA! Leaping free of the plummeting ship, Armorhide was caught mid-drop by Whirl, and he even managed to get the stiff private to make a quip or two. The Autobots piled into the shanghaied Decepticon shuttle Upstart and made for deep space, leaving Brushguard's crew behind to deal with the mess on Combatron. Force of Habit

Wow, it's Reginald, here again ahead of schedule! It's as though... he ain't stoppin' out there!
  • Armorhide (Scout Class, 2005)
  • Accessories: Crane-cannon, Earth Cyber Planet Key
  • Cyber Key Code: s645
  • Known designers: Eric Siebenaler (Hasbro), Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
Part of the third wave of Cybertron Scout Class toys, Armorhide transforms into a first-generation Volvo FH Globetrotter tractor-trailer cab, debadged and with the serial numbers filed off, with a hook-crane attachment plugged into the fifth wheel. Plugging a Cyber Key into the back of his cab flips his grill up, exposing a rack of eight (non-firing) missiles. This feature is also available in his robot mode. Unlike most Cybertron toys, Armorhide can store a Cyber Key using tabs on his hook-crane/rifle.
Armorhide is one of several toys that were not sold in Takara's counterpart line, Galaxy Force. He didn't even get a "USA Edition" release like some other otherwise-Hasbro-only toys did.
This mold was also used to make Timelines Huffer and movie-franchise Armorhide, the latter of which was later repurposed as Shattered Glass Huffer.
