- Dead End is a Decepticon from the 2007 movie franchise in the live-action film continuity family.

Brought to life by the creative energies of the Allspark, Dead End sought the guidance of Barricade in the fine art of being a Decepticon. Barricade proceeded to beat poor Dead End senseless, and that creep Frenzy slashed his tires. That was the only lesson he got... and he clearly got the message.
He is also known as Jolt, Deadend, or Detour. Wacky!

IDW Transformers movie comics
Deadend landed in San Francisco with Swindle as part of Soundwave's forces. After scanning the alternate form of a Alfa Romeo Mito, the pair carried out their mission, to cause destruction and mayhem in San Francisco so as to distract the Autobots and their human allies from the Decepticons' true objectives. While they were racing along the Golden Gate Bridge, Deadend made it clear that he loathed Swindle. Alliance #3 This odd-couple relationship did not last long, as soon after the pair had successfully lured the Autobots to San Francisco, Deadend was rammed head-on by Optimus Prime, killing the Decepticon near-instantly. The Veiled Threat prequel novel
As part of Starscream's plan in Italy, Deadend joined Swindle in causing chaos in the streets of Rome to draw the Autobots out. The Veiled Threat

Transformers (2007)

- A Wal-Mart-exclusive redeco of Cybertron Crosswise, Jolt transforms into a Bugatti EB 15.4 Veyron sports car. The spoiler is a spring-loaded missile launcher that can fire a transluscent blue flame-shaped projectile. Plugging a Cyber Planet Key in his tailgate makes a pair of missile racks pop up from the engine bay and flip over onto his roof. He comes with a purple Planet X-type Cyber Planet Key. Jolt has a regular Decepticon insignia on both his hood and Cyber Key rather than a movie-styled one.
- Jolt's upper legs are switched in the package, but this is easily fixed by popping them off their respective balljoints and swapping them.
- This mold was also used for Cybertron Smokescreen and was retooled into the BotCon 2008-exclusive "Shattered Glass" Jazz and Ricochet.

- Dead End converts from a red and black concept car to a robot with a bird-like head vaguely resembling Hawkman's mask/helmet. Interestingly, while Dead End has no neck articulation, he does have a movable jaw; the entire top of his head hinges backward, revealing a lower jaw and teeth. However, added plastic (most likely for safety reasons) makes his chest-plate unable to fold down all the way. As a result, many owners don't even see Dead End's lower jaw, and assume the upper jaw to be the entire head. It is possible to hinge the full head upwards by pulling on the lower jaw's cheek detailing.

Notes
- According to Hasbro designer Joe Kyde's design notes on Hasbro's Transformers website, the original Jolt toy was originally made as a Road Hugger homage. The name could not be secured, so the he got to be a Jolt homage, too. Subsequently, all fiction has referred to this toy as Dead End.
- For some reason, the "Dead End" character in Alliance is drawn as an Alfa Romeo Mito, instead of the Jolt toy's Bugatti Veyron. He has the same colors, however.
- Before solid information regarding the name of the Revenge of the Fallen Scout Class toy became available, sellers of stolen prototypes alternatively referred to him as "Detour" and "Dead End". Eventually the latter name won out... but ultimately it turned out the name "Detour" hadn't come out of thin air either: All European releases of the toy found so far feature the name "Detour" on the cardboard insert on the packaging's front (the cardback and the instruction sheet still call him "Dead End", however). At least one sample has even been found at US retail, with a misapplied European insert.[1]
- From what can be gathered on the scout toy's bio, it seems Dead End is some sort of vampire that feeds on other transformers and that is awesome.
