The name or term "Inferno" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Inferno (disambiguation).
Inferno is a Predacon in the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
"Pain is my friend -- allow me to introduce you to it!"

Inferno wholeheartedly believes that he is an ant and that Megatron is his queen. Unlike many Predacons, he has no personal ambitions or future plans; everything he does is for the good of the colony and his queen. Luckily for Inferno, many of the tasks his queen assigns him involve burning things - and he likes burning things.

Keeping with his ant mentality, Inferno has absolutely no regard for his own personal safety whatsoever. He is fanatically loyal to Megatron, and as such will use his heavy firepower and incredible strength full-on and take any task given of him, no matter how suicidal. And he'll do it laughing maniacally the entire time, for the glory of the colony.

When Infernos Stasis Pod crashed to the Earth (late in the first season), Tarantulas and Blackarachnia immediatly set out to claim him as their own. Unfortunantly, Inferno had been awakened automatically. Moreover, due to damage his pod received entering the atmosphere, Inferno was wholly convinced that he was an actual fire-ant. Megatron took an immediate shine to the little psychopath, and Inferno was fanatically loyal to Megatron in turn (thinking he was his "Queen").

Inferno made quite the name for himself in the first season, despite how late he appeared in it. He killed Tigatrons mate, discovered the Alien Disk, was sent to assassinate the treacherous Tarantulas and generally had a grant ol' time flying around shootin' stuff.

Starting in Season 2, Inferno's presense was diminished though he still appeared frequently. Also, he displayed a resiliance-to-dying outmatched only by Waspinator. In the season 2 finale, Inferno sacrificed himself by detonating a huge cache of Energon in a failed attempt to beat the Maximals.

In most of season 3, Inferno joined Waspinator in being the shows main comic relief. When he was sent (alongside Quickstrike and Waspinator) to destroy a Protohuman settlement, not only was he beaten severly by the cavemen, he was also accidently killed when he was caught in The Nemesis' firing range.

He lived as a warrior and died as a hero...
