You can't see me!

This character has no official visual representation in any Transformers product or media... yet, at least.

A highly regarded military man, Nathaniel Faireborn's descendants have crossed paths with the Transformers more than once.

Fiction

Dreamwave Generation 1 comics continuity

Shortly after the Transformers' arrival on Earth in the 1980s, Nathaniel was responsible for founding the Earth Defense Command as a formal agency for interacting with extraterrestrial lifeforms and protect the Earth against any threats they might pose. He lobbied for the construction of the EDC's subterranean headquarters beneath the Nevada desert, Infestation and sponsored Project Centurion, only to decommission the latter when he later came to realize the folly of putting Cybertronian technology in the hands of humans. The Route of All Evil

In 2004, Nathaniel's granddaughter, Marissa Faireborn, was a commander in the EDC. During her first interaction with the Autobots, she quoted Nathaniel's name to silence their objections to the idea of working together, suggesting that the heroic robots had previously dealt with Nathaniel and respected him. Infestation

Transformers/G.I. Joe: Divided Front

In 1984, G.I. Joe operative Dashiell "Flint" Faireborn apologized to his commanding officer for a botched mission against the evil terrorist organization Cobra. His superior excused Flint, noting that "Nathaniel never offered apologies... just results". Targets of Opportunity

Notes

  • As they didn't have the comic book rights to G.I. Joe, Dreamwave Productions were unable to draw a direct familial connection between Marissa Faireborn and Flint as the Generation 1 cartoon had done years beforehand. As such, the idea of Nathaniel Faireborn was conceived as a sort of "middleman", being established as Marissa's grandfather in Dreamwave's Generation 1 comics, and then as an older, unspecified relative (but almost certainly father) of Flint in the alternate reality of their G.I. Joe crossover, thereby making Marissa Flint's daughter by implication.
