After the Autobots and most of the soldiers at the Nevada base left to escort the convey of dead Decepticons to the naval fleet in San Diego, Agent Simmons and Professor Vine argued over the merits of leaving the AllSpark shard left with them above ground, where it might be found by the Decepticons, or below ground, where it could reactivate Wreckage. Salani chimed in on Simmons behalf, saying Sergeant Epps had told him about the Decepticons tracking abilities, and said that putting it under ground would be a good idea at their current status. Vine complied, but insisted that they keep it in an isolation vault away from Wreckage's chamber. As soon as they passed it, however, the shard flew out of Simmons hands and struck Wreckage, reactivating him. Salani provided cover fire as Simmons and Vine fled for the surface elevator.
