Onebox components are Transformer components in the Generation 1 continuity family continuity family.

When Ironhide and Ratchet transform into robot mode, part of their vehicle mode forms the Onebox component. Ironhide's becomes a weapons platform and Ratchet's is likely a repair bay.

Soon, however, both Ironhide and Ratchet began walking without the aid of their component.

Ratchet's component helped repair Gears. It even spoke, reporting when it finished minimum repairs on Gears. Prisoner of War!

Ironhide splits when he transforms, with most of the rear section of his van mode transforming into a battle platform, and the remainder becoming his rather misshapen, headless robot form.

The toy transforms from an ambulance to a robot and gun-station.

Tied in to Ironhide's Encore reissue was e-Hobby's exclusive "New Year Special" redeco of the figure: Protect Black Ironhide.

A redeco of the original toy (well, the retooled Encore version) which homages the live-action movie Ratchet, Ratchet Emergency Green is a Japanese mail-away exclusive available with a purchase of the book Transformers Visualworks.


Notes

  • A gun platform on the Ark strongly resembles this component. The Transformers
  • This component is absent in Ironhide and Ratchet's character model, where the robot transforms directly into the whole vehicle. The robot mode itself was extensively redesigned, giving these characters a very low degree of toy-accuracy.
  • This component is not mentioned in the text of the characters' bios, Universe profiles, or MTMTE profiles, but it is included in the artwork.
  • Other Ironhide and Ratchet toys have been produced that do not include this component.
