Talk:Jetfire (G1)

because this wiki is character-focal, not toy-focal, I think this entry should be listed as Skyfire, not Jetfire. he was Skyfire in every major continuity, ever. That his toy had a different name is a detail for a footnote. Add a redirect under jetfire. -D-rok

Except for the Marvel comics. And the Dreamwave comics. WHOOPS. He's Skyfire in one out of three fictions, one out of four once you factor in the toys. So no, under Jetfire he should stay; the cartoon is the abberation. -- M Sipher

Sipher's right. He was not in Skyfire in every major continuity, only the cartoon. He was Jetfire in every single continuity BUT one. --ItsWalky 22:47, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

...seriously? *rubs forehead* Man, i remembered it the other way around. I guess I'm too used to mentally correcting for it... :~(

How is a bio printed in a magazine connsidered a toy? X-BoB58 02:08, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't think the Jetfire that appeared in the G2 Manga was the same Jetfire that appeared in the cartoon series. For one thing, he was always referred to as "Skyfire", even in toy-form. This Jetfire would not appear to be the same character as Skyfire.--DrSpengler 05:23, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

He was the same character in the US, but IIRC, in Japan, the 3 Cyberjets (who were all old characters in the US) were new characters. -Derik 12:10, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, thats what I heard. So I'll just teleport that manga summary to something like "Jetfire (G2)" and that'll be fine? Or should I just put a note saying that they're difference characters in Japan but the same character in the US?--DrSpengler 18:47, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

The latter sounds good. --ItsWalky 22:31, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

...I'm gonna go with Walky, provisionally. If Japan ever re-issues the Cyberjets or somethign with more story attached tot hem, this tac might change- but it's just... such a... footnote.

...wait, were the G2 Autobot Cyberjets Decepticon defectors? (Or something?) Wasnt' there... something else doing on? -Derik 22:47, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Animated Continuity

I think "Fire in the Mountain" took place in Peru, not Brazil as stated in the article. I will confirm and correct if I find out for sure. --Suzyprime 14:41, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it's Peru, according to Fire on the Mountain. --FFN 05:57, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Autobot Symbol

I recently bought the Classics Jetfire figure, but there's something a little odd, and the source of debate on a few TF forums I frequent. The Autobot symbols on his wings are orange. Well, they are on my figure. Is this the case with the others? Seen from a distance, it's definitely orange. Closer, though, it appears to darken to red. It's odd. Which is it, orange, or red? —Interrobang 16:05, 12 September 2009 (EDT)

Image storage

Putting here so it doesn't show up in the unused file list. —Interrobang 16:05, 12 September 2009 (EDT)

Just curious...

Just curious, what's the rationale behind having the G1 cartoon stuff here rather than on a Skyfire page? - SanityOrMadness 15:03, 11 October 2009 (EDT)

Skyfire is Jetfire. --ItsWalky 15:13, 11 October 2009 (EDT)

"Jetfire" in G.I. Joe

I knew I had these somewhere. From G.I. Joe: Special Missions #5:

Slip-Stream and "Jetfire"

Close-up

Question/response about it from issue 7 letters page

I dunno if this should go on Jetfire's page, on the G.I. Joe page, or what. Issue #5 is dated June 1987, meaning it was published after the G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover (dated November 1986 to February 1987). Or is this exchange already brought up somewhere? --Monzo 04:54, 4 April 2010 (EDT)

Dark Skyfire

Should Dark Skyfire get his own page? His bio clearly establishes him as a different character. Terrortron 16:12, 1 May 2010 (EDT)

Is that why it says "he operated in the same organization as Skyfire", in the Dark Skyfire section of the article? I'm guessing this means that "Skyfire" and "Dark Skyfire" are two separate entities. By th way, that section of the article uses the word "Destron" instead of "Decepticon". I'm pretty sure that's against wiki policy. Anyway, split page ? Item42 23:49, 17 June 2010 (EDT)
Destron is the Japanese name for the Decepticons. Henkei Henkei is a Japanese toyline/fiction, and is probably used on Skyfire's bio itself. So, uh, why would using "Destron" be against policy? --Jeysie 00:04, 18 June 2010 (EDT)
Either way, if the article was split he'd be listed as a Decepticon. Terrortron 05:26, 18 June 2010 (EDT)
Maybe not against policy, but I thought using English-based names was the standard. The sections of Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity regarding Japanese fiction still call him "Optimus Prime", and not "Convoy". The section on Kup (G1) regarding the Headmasters cartoon use "Kup" and not "Chea"/"Cha". From Here to Alternity uses the word "Autobots" in the article itself. So, my point is, English-based names are used even when summarising Japanese fiction. Thus, having "Destron" while referring to "Decepticon" within an article here is rather strange from what I can tell.
Anyway, is Dark Skyfire a separate character? Item42 06:08, 18 June 2010 (EDT)
I think it's pretty clear that he is. Terrortron 19:52, 18 June 2010 (EDT)
Isn't Dark Skyfire just Skyfire before he became an Autobot?TOM 11:40, 9 July 2010 (EDT)
His bio says he worked alongside Skyfire.Terrortron 03:07, 11 July 2010 (EDT)
I agree Dark Skyfire should be given his own page, until a piece of fiction contradicts or retcons his toy bio.ACIDSTORM92 15:46, 24 July 2010 (EDT)
