Talk:Transformers: Energon (franchise)
Homage list
Is the super long list really necessary? I was thinking of removing the more obvious ones ("OMG! Character A (Energon) is an homage to Character A (G1)!!!!!!"), a quick sentence that many characters reference previous characters of the same name should cover them. I plan on doing this this weekend if no one objects. --Khajidha 10:14, 14 June 2010 (EDT)
- Scrap it. --ItsWalky 10:28, 14 June 2010 (EDT)
- Yeah, I was just thinking that. We don't list all the homages in other franchises. --NCZ 10:29, 14 June 2010 (EDT)
- Well, since Walky agrees I guess it's okay to go ahead. I'll just move my sandbox into the space. Let me know if you think more should go, there were a couple borderline cases. Or did you mean to tank it altogether? --Khajidha 10:33, 14 June 2010 (EDT)
- A lot of it seems to be a stretch, but some (such as the 20th anniversary thing) might be OK. Maybe moved into the heading paragraph. "In addition to new designs and characters, Energon was full of homages to Transformers' past, likely celebrating 20 years of the franchise." --NCZ 10:41, 14 June 2010 (EDT)
- This paragraph on the franchise page of TFA seems relevant: "Even more so than Energon, Animated is saturated with frequent and obvious references and homages to Generation 1 and other lines, possibly intended as a celebration of the Transformers' 25th anniversary year. It would, in all seriousness, take less time to list the characters who are not homages to past series: Bulkhead, Lugnut, Sentinel Prime, Lockdown, Dirt Boss, Jetfire & Jetstorm, and Yoketron. The rest are mostly drawn from G1, though some other franchises are also represented. See individual character pages for specific details. Most of the humans are original, though the Witwicky family are exceptions."
- Based on that, we could boil it all down to: "Energon was saturated with frequent and obvious Generation 1 references and homages, presumably intended as a celebration of the Transformers' 20th anniversary year. While many characters referenced previous characters of the same name, others were less obvious. See individual character pages for specific details."
- Is this supercondensed note preferred to the "pruned" version from my sandbox? --Khajidha 12:12, 14 June 2010 (EDT)

Alpha Q faction icon
For the best part of the cartoon, Alpha Q and his allies constitute a faction in addition to the Autobots and Decepticons. I haven't read the comic, but I get the impression the writers intended to do something similar, but more sinister, with him/her/it/them. Would it be appropriate to give Alpha Q one of those insignia templates?
If it is, the group would include Alpha Q him/her/it/themselves, Scorponok, Rodimus, Prowl, Landmine, Ironhide, Kicker, Misha, and the various Terrorcons. In a pinch, the insignia currently at the top of Quintesson could double for the Alpha Q faction.
If it's not appropriate, would it be acceptable to do something to link them to Alpha Q like is done with to link the Rhyming Omnicon fanboys to Team Ironhide? --Fortress Minimus 15:50, 19 August 2010 (EDT)
