I'm inclined to say that this article doesn't need a "BW" in its title. We typically only put those qualifiers on character articles or where otherwise needed for disambiguation. There are no other "mutants" that have, or likely will have, their own article. -Steve-o 22:38, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Timeframe
I challenge the article's (and the individual articles') assertion that the MBW cards place the Mutants on BM-era Cybertron. Simply referencing the Oracle doesn't mean the story they are in takes place in BM any more than referencing a spark in G1 means that story actually takes place in the BW future. There is no reason to think Megatron couldn't have tested an early version of his "devolution" virus back on prehistoric Earth, and I put it to you that the mere fact that there were some random Fuzors to test on (as well as the explicit mention of Predacons and the LACK of reference to Vehicons) implies that the Mutants' packaging fiction is set during the Beast Wars. (Also the fact that the toys were sold as Beast Wars.) -LV 02:20, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

- What with their Organic construction, oracular contact, anti-mechanical abilities, and being test-platforms for Megatron's modelock virus... I did. Oh- and they showed up on Cybertron in Wreckers.
- Sure, they're on Earth in The Gathering- but that appears to have dumped all their baggage as being part of Megatron's experiments... they're just more crashed Stasis pods, a different sort of Fuzor.
- As originally marketed- they had a tie to the BM modelock virus. That tie was omitted to place them back on Earth. Is it POSSIBLE to do so? Sure! But to act like it's sheer madness to place them on Cybertron basically requires a willfull act of ignorance on Siph's part to ignore the original backstory.-Derik 05:33, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think it's needlessly stubborn to insist that the original packaging was intended to place them on BM Cybertron when there are no references to Vehicons or in fact the planet Cybertron at all. Beast Machines product was on the shelves at the time; the Mutants were sold as Beast Wars. I have therefore edited the article to remove the unsubstantiated assertion that the packaging fiction definitively placed them on Cybertron and have left it up to the reader to make up his own mind about it. -LV 05:45, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, while you guys bicker over that stuff, anyone know if "Mutators" was ever a prerelease name for the Mutants? Poison Bite's tech specs make reference to "the mutator mission" and I have no clue what it's talking about.--MCRG 06:20, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
