Dim Tim is a graduate student. He's not terribly good at supervising archeology students, which is probably why Randall refers to him as "Dim Tim" behind his back.

Dim Tim accompanied Doctor Boxer's archeology class on a field trip to Dinobot Island, where he was left supervising a group of students at the southern end of the island. Two of the group, Randall and Ed uncovered what appeared to be a metal elasmosaur, while Harcourt's team found an old jukebox buried not far away. Once both had been excavated, it turned out that the jukebox was actually a Decepticon named Raze, who attacked the students when he was reactivated. Paddles
