Randall is a human from the Legends anthology portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Randall is an archeology student taught by Doctor Boxer. He's a bit of a pessimist, but is balanced by his more optimistic friend Ed. He's impatient and somewhat rushed with his work, so he's probably chosen the wrong field of science to enter. He's shorter and stockier than Ed, with curly black hair.

Transformers Legends anthology

Randall was disappointed to be part of the group of students sent to a desert island instead of China to dig for artifacts, but he humored Ed by helping to dig where Ed's imaging scope had detected something big. Supervised (badly) by a grad student who Randall had dubbed "Dim Tim", they took several days to uncover what appeared to be a metal elasmosaurus, but unbeknownst to them was the Dinobot Paddles. Randall threw the scope at it, and suggested it had been dumped there as junk from an amusement park, or possibly that it was a joke on the part of Doctor Boxer.

That evening, Randall was woken by Ed, who'd seen the elasmosaur walking off. They didn't have time to investigate before they were attacked by Raze, who'd been dug up by some of the other students, and the pair fell into a crevice created by the Decepticon's pile-drivers. Whether or not they lived to take the archeology test is unclear, as that was the last Paddles saw of them. Paddles
