Kalis refers to a city and its region on the planet Cybertron.

Fiction

Marvel Generation 1 comics

The war between the Autobots and Decepticons consumed the city, in common with the rest of Cybertron over the millions of years of the conflict. Vast numbers of dead bodies seem to have been left untended in the city, and the city itself was more or less a ruin. However, two things ensured the location's significance:

The first was that the city was positioned directly above a massive fusion reactor and propulsion engines that were the first stage of Megatron's plan to rework Cybertron into a travelling battlestation and thus conquer the universe. The reactor's engines, if ever activated, would have destroyed Kalis.

The second was that the Autobot resistance on Cybertron, led by Emirate Xaaron, chose Kalis as the site for Autobase in the year 1987, after the failure of Operation: Volcano and the death of Impactor.

Amway distributors: you just can't get away from 'em.

These two aspects intertwined when the rogue Autobot scientist Flame attempted to rebuild and restart the reactor and the engines, using reanimated robot corpses as his guards. Only the combined efforts of the Wreckers, Ultra Magnus, and the undead Impactor prevented the catastrophe. City of Fear! Legion of the Lost! Meltdown!

Kalis bordered the Decepticon region of Tyrest and also contained a large-scale radio transmitter called the Baird Beaming Transmitter.

Dreamwave Generation One comics

Bludgeon, Bugly and Mindwipe were practicing dark science in Kalis when they were visited by The Fallen, who recruited them to be his acolytes for the Unbinding. Fragmentation

After the Border Wars, the Autobots, Decepticons, and Ultracons met to sign a peace treaty. Shockwave mentioned that it was largely an Autobot victory in taking the Kalis energon reserves that convinced the logical commander and Ratbat to join forces with Ultra Magnus. The Age of Wrath

Cybertron comic

Landquake used to work at the Kalis Energon refineries.

During the fight to stop the Unicron Singularity, Vector Prime suspected that Ramjet might go to Kalis Primary Energon Reserves Control to strengthen the black hole. Unfortunately, Ramjet's partner, Thunderclash, tricked Dark Scorponok into attacking the place. Vector Prime had to reactivate the autoguns while Safeguard and Sentinel Maximus fought Scorponok. An unseen force successfully reactivated the autoguns, but then Sentinel Maximus received an emergency transmission from Downshift. The attack on Reserves Control was a distraction so that Ramjet and Nemesis Prime could enter the Spark Core Access Tunnels with the intention of killing Primus and resurrecting Unicron. Exodus

Bordering Iacon, Kalis was the site of the first Autobot victory in the war, which was all the more a relief, as the city's subsurface fusion reactor would power the city throughout the Decepticon siege. This was due in part to the Seekers' absence and the defeat of Bruticus Maximus by Optimus Prime, Jazz and Sideswipe. Autobots continued to patrol the area throughout the war, but the Decepticons were able to use a tunnel to access Teletraan-1. Transformers: Exodus
