This link and page header may very well change. But we have TWO "Classics" in TFs now... the early-90 Euro re-release line, and now apparently everything post-Cyb-pre-Movie (since the Mini-Cons are now officially being labelled as such). Basically the new Classics seems like it's gonna be a "Greatest Hits" line now I think. A bunch of homages to and continuations of everything from G1 to Cyb. thrown together till the movie comes along.

Powerglide

Inclusion?

Should the "Classics" releases of G1 Soundwave and 20th Prime be included/listed here as well? I lean towards yes, since they are in the Classics packaging (with Classics crosssells) and Hasbro seems to be including everything post Cybertron as Classics. Opinions? classics DVD packs in europe

i don't know if that was in all of europe, but here in belgium, they sold(from all that i know limeted to these toys) cliffjumper, grimlock, ramjet, mirage and astrotrain with the DVD the return of megatron, with 5 episodes of transformers energon(yes, every toy was sold with the exact same DVD). the also released the same toys over again with another DVD, but i can't remember what it was actualy about because i got all the toys they packed with the the return of megatron DVD.(i'm not buying the same toy again for this.) should this be noted in the classics subline as trivia? --Grand-majin 22:16, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Manga

Fair warning: According to a blurb on Takara's new "Henkei! Henkei! Transformers" page, there's going to be a manga for the toy line running in TV Magazine. It wasn't in the February issue, which I just got a week ago, so it may start with the March issue. (My copies don't arrive until almost a month after they come out in Japan, so someone may already have the March issue and be able to confirm.)--Apcog 16:57, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

I already put a notice about it on Sipher's Talk page a little while ago, leaving nothing to chance. Powerglide has always been "Powerglide" in Japan, IIRC. This is an homage, but, for the moment, it's a new character. It MIGHT be retconned into a new body for Powerglide, though. Well, I can't read Japanese, but if the Henkei! Henkei! manga has anything which indicates a divergent continuity from TFCC's Classicverse, then I think it should be treated as such. (Mind you, since everything in Japan now supposedly fits into one unified continuity, shouldn't the Japanese version of anything be considered incompatible with the Western version, since it certainly doesn't and can't conform to such a conglomo-continuity?) Universe 2008

I don't like this. The line ISN'T "Classics", despite internal/fan nomenclature for a certain batch of figures. It's under "Universe", and it's a catchall. This page should LINK to Universe 2008, ("the 'classics' theme would continue in the 2008 'Universe' line" or someshit), and the toys should be listed THERE. Otherwise, we're spreading misinformation, and we might as well lump Energon and Cybertron into the Armada article. --M Sipher 20:33, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Dealing with the "Games of Deception" figures has put this into sharper clarity for me. Obviously, based on my edit to this effect, I think those guys should be listed here, despite the Timelines umbrella franchise they're in. They have Classics-style packaging (the only rule so far) and are most definitely meant to be part of Classics fiction. But, if we separate all the Classic-Series-labeled Universe toys, then logically we should separate all the Timelines guys too. So then we're making anyone who wants to learn about all the Classics toys have to go to three different places for it. I don't think the umbrella franchises should dictate such otherwise-meaningless splits in how we organize these things, especially when the original franchises haven't ceased existing. When Energon appeared, Armada vanished, but the new Classics toys do indeed say "Classic Series" on them. And I don't know about the Robot Heroes packaging, but certainly Hasbro's website is still using that name too. I'd rather see the Universe page have sections that say "See Classics (Universe 2008)" and "See Robot Heroes (Universe 2008)" than the current reverse situation. It seems so much more relevant. I would suggest duplicating the information, but that could get tedious as time goes on. - Jackpot 22:04, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

The way I see it, while Robot Heroes are the the same thing whether they're released on their own or put under the Movie or Universe franchise, and thus belongs all on the same page, "Classics" and "Classic Series" are actually two different things. Classics was toyline unto itself, one that has ended. Classic Series is a thematically-identical but technically new line under the Universe banner. --KilMichaelMcC 00:30, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
