End of the line for the Elite Guard.
Synopsis
After learning of Sentinel Major's death at the hands of the turncoat Combaticons and their stunning new combiner technology, Metalhawk leads his Elite Guard team towards the battle to help the other teams, as bodies of their friends fall all around them. When they finally reach the Combaticons' merged form, Bruticus, they witness him tearing Elite Guard members apart with his bare hands as they fire into his body futilely.
Disobeying orders, Ironfist speeds ahead in vehicle mode, firing his weaponry at Bruticus and ramming his hood into the super robot's chest. This shortly upends the gigantic Bruticus, but before long Ironfist is in trouble again. Over-Run and his remote helicopter drone temporarily come to the rescue, but Bruticus merely grabs the helicopter drone and throws it into both Ironfist and Over-Run, killing them.
Their deaths shock Metalhawk into inaction, as he feels he's failed them both. But Dion disagrees, reminding his commander that the Elite Guard must fight to the end, no matter what. The young Autobot vaults himself up onto the combiner, and, while repurposing the cryptic warning the babbly Empty had given him earlier, fires his arm-mounted weapons into Bruticus's face. Dion is swatted away, but his courage brought results; Bruticus, blinded, is forced to separate. The Combaticons swear to hunt down Dion for revenge, but Metalhawk stands in their way, momentarily, before he, too, is destroyed.
After some consideration, Onslaught orders his team back to Deathsaurus for repairs. They figured Dion must have been destroyed when they flung his body away (he wasn't!), and vowed to return and kill Magnum later.
Hours later, Thunder Clash's Alpha Team approaches headquarters after completing a mission, and learn belatedly of the tragedy which occurred. What would they do...?

Quotes
""Fall back!" HA! Yes, run! More sport for Bruticus! You, though, didn't run fast enough!"
- —Bruticus pulling a "No, I want two!" on Ranger.
"I don't care who you used to be, you're not them any more. You're not anything. And while your boots may thunder, brute, I have the lightning!"
- —Dion goes up against Bruticus.
"I won't let you. If you want to kill him, you'll have to go through me."
- —Metalhawk has some famous last words.
Notes
- The Elite Guard Are All Dead it seems this issue. Metalhawk, Ironfist, Over-Run, Crosscut, and Ranger are explicitly killed on-panel this issue, while the corpses of Windsail, Braver, Laster, Blacker, Rest-Q, Padlock and Tap-Out are seen as well. The other Elite Guardsmen listed in the Featured Characters above were presumed all killed off panel as the Strike Team was joining the fight.
- At this point, the only surviving Autobots connected to the Elite Guard appear to be Magnum, Dion, the Alpha Team, and possibly Ricochet, Cop-Tur and Drench.
- Although Thunder Clash's Alpha Team does not appear on panel, their ship is seen on the final panel with speech bubbles indicating the presence of all four members.
