Lazerback (Prime)

- Lazerback is a Predacon from the Aligned continuity family.
With an intelligence and power that may be second only to Predaking, the rogue creature Lazerback is a master of trickery and avowed agent of chaos, "Fractious" is a good word to describe him. He may be a Predacon by design, but he'll die before he prostrates himself at the feet of Predaking, to say nothing of the die-cast dictator who thinks he's giving the orders now. Lazerback's only interested in one thing: destroying all who stand in his way.
Fiction
Tales of the Beast Hunters
Lazerback was cloned by Shockwave using a Hyperevolution Chamber. Whilst helpless in the Chamber, the Predacon overheard the Decepticon scientist, and decided to destroy Megatron and Predaking, so as to be free to spread chaos of his own accord. Once freed from the chamber, he stole a tracking device and set off to find the two tyrants. Tales of the Beast Hunters Chapter 3 He eventually found them on a derelict starship in the asteroid belt, and surreptitiously planted explosives around the ship. Once at a safe distance, he set off the explosives, seemingly terminating Megatron. Tales of the Beast Hunters Chapter 6
Assuming everyone aboard the ship was dead, Lazerback approached the newly-awakened Predacon, Ripclaw, and told her that Predaking was dead. He attempted to persuade her that the Decepticons deserved destruction as much as the Autobots did. Tales of the Beast Hunters Chapter 8
Aligned novels
Lazerback was one of Predakings loyal subjects and one of the first Predacons to emerge from Well of All Sparks. When the Great Cataclysm ravaged Cybertron Lazerback eventually went insane from the event and Predaking had to use his stun breath to knock him out and then was taken underground by Predaking along with Hun-Gurrr who also suffered from insanity, they all presumably perished.The Covenant of Primus

"Hunt the Beasts" online game
While you were investigating Shockwave's lab for clues, Lazerback burst free from a chamber and scurried away. Lazerback soon joined several other Predacons, overwhelming Shockwave and causing the Decepticon scientist to flee. Information on him could be found via the lab's numerous data terminals. Beast Hunters

- Part of the first wave of Prime: Beast Hunters Deluxe Class toys, Lazerback transforms into a dragon with an opening jaw. His tail detaches to become a whip that is held by his hands via 5mm post, and his dragon back hinges over his head in robot mode to become the "Toxic Strike Blaster", a spring-loaded missile launcher which fires a single, double-pronged missile. (His packaging call-outs erroneously mention that he has two missiles.) The launcher itself is attached to a peg-hole on his back, and can be detached for use as a hand-held weapon.
- His instructions include the third chapter of the Tales of the Beast Hunters series. He was also redecoed into Vertebreak and retooled into Go! Gaidora.
Notes
- Though the New York Comic Con 2012 presentation slide that introduced Lazerback spelled his name with a Z, the later slide of his packaging spelled his name with an S. However, an in package image of Lazerback would show that his name does, in fact,
pozzezzpossess a z instead of an s.[1] - According to Hasbro's marketing booklet for the line, Lazerback was Predacon experiment #SW57525.
