The name or term "Nightstick" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Nightstick (disambiguation).
Nightstick is an Autobot Targetmaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Nightstick is the Targetmaster partner of Artfire.

There are two other Targetmaster Nightsticks running around; one is his friend, and one is his enemy. To make matters worse, those two look identical. We can only imagine the hijinks.

Fiction

The Headmasters manga

In an Earth, the Decepticon Targetmasters Slugslinger, Misfire and Triggerhappy set a blazing inferno. Chromedome and Daniel were having trouble controlling the fire when Ricochet and Artfire, accompanied by their partners Nightstick and Nightstick (not to be confused with Nightstick), showed up to help. Artfire quickly quenched the blaze while his Nightstick helped rescue the people trapped in burning buildings. With the fire under control, the Autobots then set their attentions on the Decepticons and send them into a retreat.

  • Artfire (Targetmaster, 1987)
Nightstick is identical to Fracas, Scourge's Targetmaster partner. Nightstick was released with Artfire, a retool of Inferno. At the time, the pair was exclusive to Japan.
The other Japanese-exclusive Targetmaster, Stepper, came with a partner identical to Cyclonus's. It seems there was an attempt to carry over the lookalike partners' names, as one was called "Nightstick," and the other was called "Nebulon" (which is how Scourge's on-package bio referred to Fracas). But those names were switched: the Nightstick-lookalike was called "Nebulon" and vice-versa. This could have been the extent of the confusion, but 16 years later, the North American Commemorative Series release of Stepper (as "Ricochet") gave his partner the "proper" name of Nightstick. Nguh.
