Bud Hansen
| This article is about the kid from Cybertron. For the beer-drinking driller from the IDW Generation 1 continuity, see Bud. |
- Bud Hansen is a human from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Bud Hansen, Tim and Coby's younger brother, is a young boy, with all the exuberance and naivete that comes with. Though he's far from stupid, his imagination rules him. A fan of bad sci-fi movies and the Galactic Guardians, he doesn't just want to be a movie director when he grows up—he wants to be a movie director now. As such, he has a quirky flair for drama, though it's tempered by a sense of fair play.
Despite his years, Bud is able to be surprisingly mature and even somewhat wise when he has to be. This doesn't keep him from getting himself and the more foolish of his robot friends into some rather bad situations (like unprotected orbital reentry). Fortunately (or unfortunately), the Transformers don't seem to know enough about human development to apply the necessary butt-whuppins to prevent these minor disasters.
With his brother and their friend Lori Jiménez, Bud assists the Autobots during their search for the Cyber Planet Keys. He has probably bonded the most with the geeky Mini-Con Jolt, who calls him "Bud-dude", after Bud insisted he stop saying "Master Bud". (Not that it's much of an improvement, dorkiness-wise.) He believes that if they wanted to, the Autobots could walk around in plain sight as long as people thought they were just fanboys wearing costumes. The sad thing is...he's probably right.

The older boys of the Hansen family were having a dirt bike race on a picnic. However, their friend Lori complained to Coby that they were ruining the peace and quiet, but Bud was able to calm Lori down (and butcher a classic metaphor at the same time.) A little while later, Bud noticed a strange humming sound along with a bright light in the sky. Soon after that, the kids noticed something falling from the sky, discovering that it was a giant robot at the bottom of a newly-formed crater. They hauled the robot out, and while repairing it the robot introduced himself as Landmine. After that, a talking plane swooped down from the sky and fired its missiles at the group, which Landmine blocked with its body. The plane was about to come around for another attack when a talking, flying fire truck came out of nowhere and rammed it, saving Bud and company, who were introduced to the rest of Optimus' team. Fallen
Bud joined with Coby and Lori in showing the Autobots the site they had selected for a proposed base. He successfully persuaded Scattorshot to implement a catapult system, and later helped spray the stealth coating inside the base. Haven
Bud and a group of Cybertronian refugees set out to sea to try out the refugees' new alternate modes, but inadvertently drew the attention of a warship who mistook them for hostile vessels. Realizing that there was no way for him to explain what was going on, Bud and the refugees were forced to dive beneath the water in order to escape
The incident drew a reprimand from Jetfire, who is upset with Coby, Bud, and Lori for drawing so much attention to the refugees. The trio apologized and asked for a second chance, which they ultimately received. Bud assisted in the effort by dressing up in various costumes, after which he was scanned so that his image could be used to provide holograms for the refugees to use as drivers. Hidden
Coby, Bud, and Lori inquired after Landmine's condition, but when the Autobots went to search for information Bud and Lori joined them. Bud joins with Jolt, who is too slow to keep up with the team of Lori and Jetfire. However, Bud instead takes advantage of Jolt's fast internet connection to conduct research online, in the process discovering a seeming Atlantis Pattern in a museum in Mexico. The pair arrive at the museum to wait for the others, and so are caught up in the fighting when the Decepticons attack. Landmine ultimately saves Bud, Coby, and Lori by protecting them from a stray shot. Landmine (episode)
After getting upset because he couldn't join the others in space, Bud vented his frustrations to the mini-cons, who in turn convinced Scattorshot to take Bud up into space via the Autobots' space bridge. Although initially panicked because of the solar radiation and frustrated at the artificial gravity keeping him from floating, Bud eventually came to enjoy the trip. His enjoyment ended, however, when a stray missile from a battle down below struck the bridge, knocking him and Scattorshot off and causing them to enter the atmosphere. Coby and Jolt are forced to rescue the pair, at which point Jolt teleports himself, Coby, Bud, and Scattorshot back to base. Space (episode)
Bud doesn't trust the government because he's seen enough TV to know better. Smart kid!
