Decoy energy transmitter

This article is about a character or concept that lacks a name, but has an official term or designation. |

Decoy energy transmitters are devices that can transmit a fake energy signal, which probably only makes them useful for trickery. When not in use, they look like balls with a white stripe in the middle and eight random spikes on the top and the bottom. When in use, they split open along the white line and sideways antennae emerge to broadcast the signal.

Because he's bad at basic math, Megastorm unintentionally made a deal with the Seacons that if they'd kill all six members of the Lio Convoy Unit, they'd get all of the Predacons' Angolmois Energy. Thanks to Starscream, he realized he had a mistake to fix. The plan he had concocted earlier to see the Maximals dead was for the Predacons to spread out six decoy energy transmitters across the Sea Continent and have these emit fake Angolmois Energy signals to force the Maximals to split up to investigate. At each transmitter, a Seacon or Predacon would be waiting. He was just about to have Dirge and Thrust deliver them when Thrust's unfounded fear that the transmitters might explode gave Megastorm the idea to actually rig them with explosives and thereby take out Maximal and Seacon in one go.

Dirge and Thrust dropped two transmitters in the sea, two in the jungle, and two on the beach. They were also in charge of setting off the explosives, for which Megastorm had given them a controller. The controller featured six buttons, one for each transmitter, that also acted as receivers, lighting up when someone got near the respective transmitter. In that scenario, all the duo had to do was press the button to make a boom take Megastorm's troubles away. With this setup, Scuba and Diver were lured into the sea and awaited by Halfshell and Sea Phantom, Tasmania Kid, and Bighorn went to the jungle signals and faced Scylla and Coelagon, and Apache followed a beach signal and got attacked by Terrormander while Lio Convoy also followed a beach signal but lucked out by only having to deal with Dirge and Thrust. They got startled when he showed up and dropped the controller, which broke it so that all buttons lit up at once. Because the buttons weren't labelled, the duo didn't know which one to press to make the transmitter Lio Convoy was next to explode and so they started pushing buttons hoping for the best. Instead of catching any Maximals or Seacons in the explosions, they got Megastorm five times as he got blasted from spot to spot. The final transmitter, meanwhile, had gotten stuck on Sea Phantom's dorsal fin and as he chased after Diver, Diver jumped over Megastorm, and for the sixth time that day the explosives were set off with Megastorm in range, although this time at least Sea Phantom, as an intended target, also got caught in the explosion. [edit]- These devices are only referred to as hasshinki (はっしんき), which means as much as "transmitter" and "oscillator".
