The Seacons are scurvy space pirates from the Beast Wars II portion of the Beast Era continuity, they is!
We are the pirates who don't do anything
We just stay home, and lie around
And if you ask us, to do anything we'll just tell you
We don't do anything!

With the Jolly Roger hoisted high and the cannon fuses smoldering, the Space Pirate Seacons (宇宙海賊シーコンズ Uchū Kaizoku Shīkonzu) sail the spaceways in a neverending search for plunder and power. These ferocious freebooters will gladly ally themselves with whomever proves most beneficial to their larcenous ends, be they Predacon or Maximal. In reality, the Seacons typically end up double-crossing everybody, leaving them with few friends and a lot of enemies.

Their crew consists of:

  • Halfshell, the greedy-yet-generous leader.
  • Scylla, the lovesick squid of pristine beauty.
  • Coelagon, the eldest member and source of senile "wisdom".
  • Terrormander, the youthful slacker who's good in a fight but not for much else.
  • Sea Phantom, the tough speedster who favours surprise attacks.

These scallywags can combine to form God Neptune, a powerhouse who keeps their rivals at bay (when his limbs aren't deserting him, that is).

Lawbhammer may later join as the sixth member.

Now, mateys, keep your eyes open for that octopus's garden in the shade.

After a streak of misfortune in their treasure-hunting profession, the Seacons sailed their photon sailer to Gaia to gather Angolmois Energy to sell for a tidy profit. Their hot spot of choice was a well amidst some ruins on the seafloor in the Sea Continent, to which they dove with a load of cylinders to store the energy in. The operation started out expeditiously, but their activity made the water around them cloudy and that plus their photon sailer at anchor nearby clued in the Maximals that they should investigate what the space pirates were up to. Scuba and Diver went to do just that, but Scylla was attracted by Scuba's scent and discovered them snooping. She alerted Halfshell and after Halfshell first fought the entire Lio Convoy Unit on land alone, the other four dropped their work and joined him literally by uniting into God Neptune. The Maximals's answer to their newfound disadvantage was for Scuba and Diver to hijack the unmanned photon sailer. Infuriated, God Neptune left the battle to get their ship back, unaware that the Maximals had rigged it with the Seacons' own Angolmois Energy cylinders. Moments after God Neptune had reclaimed the vessel, it exploded, forcibly separating the combiner and scattering the members around. The Space Pirate Seacons! The Seacons could keep their photon sailer afloat, but didn't have the materials to repair the damage and thus were stuck on Gaia. Badly smitten with Scuba, Scylla used the situation to look for him to confess her love. She failed to catch his interest, but did receive Bighorn's. As a result of her absence, the other Seacons failed to form God Neptune when the Predacons came spying on them and Sea Phantom was sent out to bring Scylla back. The Maximals followed them to the ship and ended up fighting the Seacons, who received backup from the Predacons. The skirmish ended in a tie, with both the Maximals and the Predacons fleeing and the Seacons realizing that either of the camps should have the materials needed to fix their ship. The Tentacular Scuba

It's my pirate crew and I'll cry if I want to.

Impressed with what they saw the Seacons capable of, the Predacons offered them a deal: Angolmois Energy for each Maximal they defeated. With some obfuscating math, Halfshell got Megastorm to promise the Seacons all of the Predacons' Angolmois Energy if they eliminated all of the Maximals. The original plan was for the Predacons to set up six transmitters that gave off Angolmois Energy readings in different places to force each member of the Lio Convoy Unit to investigate alone. At each spot except for one, a Seacon would be waiting. Once Megastorm was cognizant of the bad deal he had made, he rigged up each transmitter with explosives in hopes of taking out the Seacons along with the Maximals so that he wouldn't have to pay the latter. The Seacons went about the plan perfectly, overwhelming the Maximals with their superior combat prowess that would've seen them emerge victorious if it wasn't for the Predacons' mismanaging the bombs. Megastorm got caught in every single explosion and the Maximals escaped in the chaos. Of the Seacons, only Sea Phantom suffered damages due to an explosion and the five regrouped at their ship to discuss and laugh at Megastorm's self-inflicted misfortune. Megastorm's Reckoning After Megastorm's bumbling, Galvatron negged the Seacons into going after the Maximals for free to prove they weren't incompetent losers. Scylla and Coelagon came up with a plan to use her charms to lure Bighorn into a trap that would send him and any Maximals trying to save him adrift on the waves, where they would be at a disadvantage against the aquatic Seacons. Every step of the plan proceeded flawlessly, which was why Moon was compelled to interfere by notifying Bigmos and Tonbot of the danger the Lio Convoy Unit was in. They and Lio Convoy joined in one massive attack that broke apart God Neptune and sent the Seacons packing. Showdown in the Sea At a point of desperation to get off Gaia, the Seacons accepted a deal from the Predacons to hunt down he Maximals in return for super death steel to fix their ship with. The operation got waylaid when the Jointrons captured Scylla, but Sea Phantom and Terrormander helped her escape. As God Neptune, the Seacons fought Tripledacus, holding the winning hand until the Maximals joined in and forced God Neptune back into the sea. Face the Setting Sun Whether through the Predacons or other means, the Seacons got their hands on materials to repair their ship, but this still left them short on the energy needed to escape Gaia's atmosphere. Scylla informed Scuba of Halfshell's plans to leave, who in turn informed Lio Convoy, who in turn offered Halfshell energy if they would leave peacefully. Halfshell counterproposed to fight Lio Convoy one-on-one for it and Lio Convoy accepted, his terms being that if Halfshell lost, the Seacons would surrender themselves at the nearest Maximal spaceport. Halfshell, however, did not mean to play fair and the whole Seacon crew showed up to the fight as one, namely God Neptune. Lio Convoy took it in stride and fought the combiner, holding his own until an explosion of Angolmois Energy forced everyone to retreat to safety. During their escape, the Seacons snatched up the energy capsules Lio Convoy had brought along in case he lost and used it to power up their ship. They made it out of the Solar System, but got swallowed by the void The Final Battle generated by Nemesis. Scylla found the time to sent out an SOS, but it didn't do the crew any good. On Galvatron's orders, Nemesis took control of the Seacons' minds so they'd fight on his behalf. The Artificial Planet Nemesis

We're gonna make you sorry!
You wanna know how sorry?
You're gonna be real sorry!
Sorry you were ever born.

The Seacons may or may not have battled the Jointrons in space around this time. Lio Convoy in Imminent Danger! By the time their old enemies of the Lio Convoy Unit caught up with the Seacons, the latter were made to act as Nemesis's first line of defense. They forced the Maximals to crash on a nearby asteroid and jointly fought Lio Convoy, later joined by Lio Junior, Skywarp, and Santon. The latter three combined into Magnaboss and the Seacons matched their energy by becoming God Neptune. God Neptune came close to beating Magnaboss, but was broken apart when the Lio Convoy Unit held him still and Magnaboss struck him with an Angolmois Ball. When they came to, they were their old selves again, scared, and remorseful. After explaining what happened to them, they donated their ship's energy to the Maximals' effort to reach Nemesis. They accepted that they'd be stuck on the asteroid for an indefinite amount of time. Revenge of the Space Pirates

The Seacons didn't have a new member by the name of Lawbhammer for very long when they teamed up with another Space Pirate named Duncan God Neptune comic 2 to harvest proton energy. Seacons comic 5 He betrayed them. All Seacons were left for dead with the exception of Halfshell, who still could do nothing but mourn his crew. As he was cradling Lawbhammer, a messenger from Primus arrived and offered Halfshell a chance at survival for all of them if he did exactly as told and if he accepted that Lawbhammer would be held as collateral. There was little actual choice in accepting the deal. God Neptune comic 2 While Lawbhammer was secretly getting repaired and brainwashed for later use, Halfshell was tasked to collect the Angolmois Energy residing in Galvatron. This Angolmois Energy would also be the key to revive the Seacons, but before Halfshell was willing to trust such a grand promise, he needed a guinea pig. Recalling Coelagon's stories of previous Seacons, Halfshell travelled to Earth in 2020 to meet up with Turtler after the latter has lost all his drones in battle against God Ginrai. Suggesting common ground in that they were both captains without crew, he offered Turtler the same as Primus had promised him Seacons comic 5 and took him to the Precursor World of 2050 and aboard the photon sailer. They picked up Galvatron and with trickery got his Angolmois Energy, which Turtler used to become stronger than ever before. Seacons comic 1 As Turtler went out and made short work of their enemies, Halfshell, standing before the tanks holding his crew, mocked Turtler and declared the Clone Seacon Combination Experiment a success. Seacons comic 3 Now certain Angolmois Energy was safe to use, he began administering it to his own crew. What he hadn't accounted for was Galvatron's suspended form Seacons comic 4 reviving into Super Megatron Seacons comic 5 and escaping with vengeful destructive force. With the Angolmois Energy-infusing equipment destroyed and close to death himself, Halfshell crawled over to his crew's collapsed forms to apologize for failing them. Super Megatron comic 1 To his utter surprise, the four got up after all. Super Megatron comic 2

The Angolmois Energy-powered Seacons were sent out on a quest to assemble the power of the Silver Matrix by gathering the seven Matrixes of the Primus Vanguard. Halfshell traveled to the White Planet and battled White Gallant Convoy, Sea Phantom went the Green Planet and fought Green Tender Convoy, Terrormander reached the Red Planet and took out Red Sentinel Prime, Scylla made her way to the Yellow Planet and tricked Yellow Splendid Convoy, and Coelagon showed the Black Planet and Black Go Prime, whom he knew from long ago, that age did little to hold him back. With the power of five Matrixes at their command, the Seacons gathered at the Blue Planet to form God Neptune God Neptune comic 1 and fight those who held the remaining two Matrixes. Almost every warrior of note fought the combiner, but it took Megatron Omega, in a case of fighting fire with fire, blasting God Neptune with Angolmois Energy to undo the combiner. His crew broken and dying again, Halfshell begged Turtler for help, but Megatron Omega put a stop to that by playing a recording of Halfshell bragging that Turtler had been just a guinea pig to him. Turtler rejected Halfshell, who realized he had abandoned his code only to end up back where he started. Unexpectedly, the spirit of White Gallant Convoy reached out from the Neptune Sword, which he had entered the moment God Neptune had killed him with it. Aware of Halfshell's agreeable motives, White Gallant Convoy got Halfshell to join forces with him to thwart Megatron Omega's attempt to wield the Star Power of the collected Matrixes. Halfshell bisected Megatron Omega with the Neptune Sword and the Star Power that flowed free restored the Seacons as a fully charged God Neptune. This wasn't the end of Megatron Omega yet and White Gallant Convoy promised to help save Lawbhammer if God Neptune fought on. God Neptune comic 2

The two warriors were reasonably equally matched until Purple Wicked Convoy tilted the scales by combining with Megatron Omega into Omega Hand Mode. Before the new combiner could reclaim the Star Power coursing through God Neptune, Lawbhammer appeared and blocked the attack, only to turn around and shoot God Neptune in the Scylla. Scylla's injured form fell away and Lawbhammer forcibly took her place as the left leg. Due to Primus's machinations, he was able to take control of God Neptune and made him fight among Primus's forces Finale Prelude until Gold Megatron and the threat of the New Primus Vanguard changed everyone's priorities. Primus let go off Lawbhammer and God Neptune could choose on his own to join the fight, which he did alongside King Poseidon. Once eventually all threats were eliminated and order restored, Scylla, who had been repaired, rejoined the Seacons. After wiping their memories of the past events, Primus sent them back to their own time. Finale

When the Seacons made a stop on Gaia to refuel, Bighorn fell for Scylla on sight. Being shy, he had Scuba write a love letter and deliver it to Scylla, who as a result thought Scuba was courting her. Viewing him as a good match, she proposed marriage, which Scuba interpreted to be meant for Bighorn and andswered yes on his behalf. Halfshell was happy for the opportunity to be rid of Scylla, so the Seacons set up a wedding ceremony for their crewmate and all went well until on the big day Bighorn showed up as Scylla's groom. Confusion, disappointment, and jealousy followed and all this drama in turn was followed by a surprise attack by the Predacons. The Seacons merged into God Neptune to fend them off, but the Predacons focused their fire on the combiner, breaking it apart. Only Scylla was left standing because Bighorn had shielded her. In a moment of mutual understanding, Bighorn, Scuba, and Scylla teamed up to unleash an attack powerful enough to send the Predacons running. Afterwards, Scylla realized she wouldn't find the romance she wanted on Gaia and returned with the other Seacons on their travels through space. Realize the Forbidden Love!

I'm not fat, I'm big boned.
  • God Neptune (Multi-pack, 1998)
  • ID number: D-21
  • Accessories: Sword, super robot head, shell-shield/chestplate, 2 foot-plates, left & right fists
Sold only as a boxed set of five toys, God Neptune is a redeco of most of 1988's Transformers Seacon team, combining Halfshell as the torso with the others forming limbs: Coelagon as the left arm, Skyulle s the left leg, Sea Phantom as the right arm, and Terrormander serving the right leg. Since the set uses the Scramble City-style of construction, the limbs are fully interchangeable, both within this set and with other similar-build combiner teams.
The set does not include a redeco of Nautilator, and almost all of the weapons and gun-mode stands for the individuals are also missing.
For unknown reasons, a great number of unboxed God Neptune sets—lacking all of their accessories, including combiner parts—ended up available on the secondary market. These went for considerably less than the "complete" releases, naturally.
This toy was later repurposed as Classics God Neptune in the comic arc Beast Wars Shattered Glass.

Here is your god now!
  • God Neptune (Multi-pack, 2020)
  • Release date: October 31, 2020
  • Hasbro ID number: TT-GS10
  • Accessories: "Neptune Sword", "Neptune Cannon", 2 foot-plates, left & right fists
God Neptune is a TakaraTomy-initiated redeco of Generations Selects King Poseidon (omitting Lobclaw, of course). He is armed with a large trident-shaped "Neptune Sword" and a "Neptune Cannon," each formed by merging the weapons of the constituent Seacons.
As a redeco, God Neptune shares King Poseidon's "Targetmaster" function, but this went unadvertised due to having only five components instead of six, thus no-one left over to form a gun.
The God Neptune 5-pack set was announced in May 2020 for an October 2020 release. It was exclusive to TakaraTomy Mall and Hasbro Pulse.

Notes

[edit]
This two-page spread from Beast Magazine is the only known publishing to use the Space Pirate Seacons' actual character models.
  • Oddly, though they are referred to as such practically everywhere else, the term "Seacon" does not appear on the team's original toy packaging.
  • The original depiction of the team in 1998 excluded the Lobclaw/Nautilator mold. In 2020, the digital character Lawbhammer would be created to fill this gap.
  • Half the team, that being Scylla, Terrormander, and Lawbhammer, have Japanese names that rely on vowelplay and none of that is or could have been accurately reflected by the English adaptations of their names.
  • At some point very early into production, the Space Pirate Seacons were going to use the Super-God Masterforce Seacon models in the Beast Wars II cartoon. Evidence of this was found in a collection of production materials that featured print-outs of the Masterforce Seacon models (including the unused robot mode models), where the Masterforce names were crossed out and replaced with the Space Pirate Seacons' names in red pen.<ref>Early Beast Wars II Seacon model sheets at "Transformers at the Moon"</ref> For reference, the actual Space Pirate Seacon models used in the cartoon are supplied to the right.
  • In the original Beast Wars II fiction, the Seacons display a strong preference for their mechabeast modes over their robot modes. This is ignored in the Generations Selects Special Comic, where they only use their mechabeast modes when attacking the various planets.
