Deerstalker is an Autobot from the Japanese portion of the Generation 1 continuity family (via Missing Link).
If an "FBI: Female Body Inspector" t-shirt were a guy.

Deerstalker (ディアストーカー Diasutōkā) is Cybertron's top detective and a friend of Ultra Magnus. He's not the most social bot, and is particularly nervous around women like Arcee, short-circuiting when touched by them.

To root out a possible mole in the Autobot ranks feeding the Decepticons information on the Scramble City Project, Ultra Magnus assembled an investigative team made up of Deerstalker and Arcee. Upon their first meeting, Deerstalker was able to identify Arcee as a grizzled veteran of many battles who possessed medical knowledge from just observing her behavior and appearance, which impressed her. Aboard a freighter bringing supplies and staff for the Project on Earth, Deerstalker observed with keen interest the conflict instigated by Hubcap insulting the women and migrant workers aboard for not being the elite he wanted to be part of. With still not enough to finger the spy, Deerstalker in the meantime brusquely told Arcee to learn how to observe and overdrank some energon wine before being alerted to a possible case by the ship's alarms.

In the bridge, Deerstalker found Yellow Face with a cut on his right arm and the blueprints to the Project stolen. After Arcee recognized the injury as being from Blanched Soldier's energon sword and arrested her on suspicion of being the spy, Deerstalker realized the left-handed Autobot couldn't have attacked Yellow Face from behind as he claimed. To lure the true spy out, he arranged for Blanched Soldier to keep quiet and let the situation work itself out.

After arriving on Earth, Arcee mentioned the superficiality of Yellow Face's wound and, after realizing for sure who the spy was, Deerstalker rushed to Teletraan I to stop him from acquiring the passkey to unlock the blueprints. After warning Cliffjumper and Huffer of the spy, he and Arcee awaited Yellow Face at the Ark's exit to entrap the Mini-spy. Deerstalker explained to his captive that he knew he had inflicted his injury to himself, being also left-handed. To stop his spy from babbling too much, Galvatron II struck and killed Yellow Face from a distance and also triggered a collapse in the ground. To save Arcee, Deerstalker swung her to solid ground while falling into the chasm.

The Autobots were able to recover Deerstalker's head and Arcee promised that they would use Scramble City's resources to fix his lack of a body. He didn't mind too much, as his head was all he needed to think. Metrowars: Spy

Elementary, my dear Magnus!
  • ID Number: C-10
  • Accessories: "Super Blaster Gun"/"Laser Gun" rifle, Spike Witwicky driver figure
Included in an official Transformers product for the first time ever, Missing Link Deerstalker is a new figure directly based on the original Diaclone Powered Buggy, but cast in blue to match Ultra Magnus's color scheme. Deerstalker transforms into a combat buggy that can seat the included Dianaut figure as well as fit atop Magnus's trailer in car carrier mode, and can also use Magnus's rifle as a weapon in both modes.
Deerstalker's transformation has been reworked from the original Diaclone figure to no longer require partforming. A collector's card featuring new artwork in the same style as Ultra Magnus is also included for anyone who ordered at TakaraTomy Mall before October 19, 2025.
This mold was also used for Missing Link Cybertron Powerdrive.

Notes

[edit]
  • Deerstalker's name derives from [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Deerstalker|{{#if:a type of hat|a type of hat|Deerstalker}}]] which is commonly associated with detectives in media, perhaps most famously Sherlock Holmes.
  • While neither Hasbro or Takara sold the Powered Buggy design as part of a Transformers-branded toy prior to 2026, the figure's ties to the brand go back to when Italian company GiG released the 1983 Powered Convoy figure as part of their 1984 Trasformer line, where it was named "Super Buggy". Powered Buggy was also later officially added to Transformers fiction through the 2016 bio for Masterpiece Delta Magnus, where it was given the name "Powerdrive", preceding Missing Link Deerstalker by a decade.
