This article is about the Decepticon Micromaster. For the Rescue Bot Mini-Con, see Growl (RB){{#switch:{{#sub:Growl (RB)|-1}} != .= ?= .

Growl is a Decepticon Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
In challenging a Kzin, a simple scream of rage is sufficient. You scream and you leap.

Growl is a sadistic bully who finds that his desire to maim and kill suits him perfectly for the Military Patrol. He occasionally makes noises about replacing Bombshock as team leader, but that's mostly just because everyone else says that, and he doesn't want to look weak. He'll actually go on happily following orders forever, so long as they involve killing things.<ref>More than Meets the Eye #3</ref>

Toys

[edit]

The Transformers

[edit]

Rowr.
  • Military Patrol (Micromaster Patrol, 1990)
    • Accessories: Cannon
Released in the seventh and final year of the original Transformers toyline in the US, Micromaster Growl is a tiny robot that transforms into a brown FMC XR311 combat support vehicle. Unusually for a Micromaster figure, he has a separate gun that can be attached to the roof of this vehicle mode or to either of his arms in robot mode.
He was only available in the Military Patrol four-pack with his teammates Bombshock, Dropshot, and Tracer.

  • Military Team (Micro Transformer team, 1991)
    • ID number: C-363
    • Accessories: Cannon, Micro Trailer #3
Growl was also released in Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers line, during the Return of Convoy year. While the toy had no notable physical changes from the Hasbro release, like all Return of Convoy Micromasters, he was marketed as an Autobot instead of a Decepticon.
Like the Hasbro toy, he was only available in a complete set with his teammates, but this release included Micro Trailer #3.

War for Cybertron: Earthrise

[edit]
  • Bombshock & Decepticon Growl (Micromaster, 2020)
    • Hasbro ID number: WFC-E4
    • TakaraTomy ID number: ER EX-04
    • TakaraTomy release date: June 27, 2020
    • Accessories: Cannon
Part of the first wave of Earthrise Micromaster two-packs, Growl transforms from robot into a vehicle based on his original G1 toy. Like his original figure, Growl's cannon is a separate accessory that can attach to his roof in vehicle mode or to either of his arms in robot mode. He reuses both the upper torso and 5 mm post of Flak and the thighs of Top Shot.
In robot mode, Growl has an extensive amount of vehicle mode kibble hanging off his back and no real heelspurs, making the figure extremely prone to tipping over backwards.
He comes packaged with his partner Bombshock as the "Military Patrol", and the two of them can be combined together to create a cannon type weapon that larger figures can wield.
