Notes

[edit]
  • Naturally, the big draw here for Kre-O collectors is the exclusive Orion Pax Kreon that comes with the book, a common practice for books about miniature building-block figures produced by that other company.
  • The character bios in this book are a bit sparser than the ones online. For example, the "Likes / Dislikes" is gone, leaving out Dirge's (justified) fear of clowns.
  • While most of the Kreon images are toy photos, the Micro-Changer Combiner pages all use the on-package CG renders for the characters instead, complete with the inaccuracies to the actual toys.

Character omissions

[edit]

This book has several omissions, some fairly reasonable in their omission, some not so much, but either way, kinda makes the claim of being an "ultimate" encyclopedia a bit specious.

  • "Promotional" Kreons not available at normal retail, like the Matrix Optimus Prime, the Generation 2 style yellow Devastator and the like are missing.
  • Only one form each of the 2012 Vehicons and Autobot Troopers are shown.
  • The Toys"R"Us-exclusive Generation 2 style orange Devastator is also absent.
  • The Knock Out that comes with the Autobot Command Center is missing. Granted, this is a "mystery figure" not identified on the packaging for said set, but it is a normal retail item.
  • The BotCon 2013 Kreons are not listed.
  • No human Kreons are listed, not even the actually-named ones from the Beast Hunters sets. Oddly though, human Kreon silhouettes are visible in the pattern on the inside-cover pages.
  • Despite the appearance of large brick-built bots in the photo comics, no buildable bots are listed. No big forms of Kreon characters, no Predacon beasts. Corhada does get a brief name-drop in Windcharger's bio, but he's the only buildable bot mentioned at all. As such, he's also the only Kre-O Predacon beast we have a mass-release name confirmation for.

Errors

[edit]

Oh man.

  • Many of the Kreons pictured have their helmets askew, are shot in odd positions, etc. Not wrong, just... awkward.
  • Pg.14 - Jazz has a white-plastic head rather than the final version's gray.
  • Pg.27 - Skywarp's toe-chrome is missing.
  • Pg.62 - Ripclaw's flak jacket is on upside-down. Also, she's listed as a "he".
  • Pg.78 - Crankstart is missing his windshield-chest-piece.
  • Pg.82 - Scorponok is listed as a Prime Predacon.
  • Pg.83 - Waspinator is listed as a Prime Predacon, not a Beast Wars Predacon.
  • Pg.91~95 - Airachnid, Insecticon, Inferno, Rampage, and Dirge are all listed as Prime Predacons. Seriously.
  • Pg.104 - Blight is named "Bolt".
  • Pg.105 - Hardshell is named "Bombshell".
  • Pg.109 - Acid Wing is spelled "Acidwing" and is also listed as a Prime Predacon. Holy wow.
  • Pg 111 - Cheetor's beast mode is not mis-assembled, but... all his limbs are just swept back so he's posed less like a living beast and more like a cheetah-bot-skin rug.
  • Pg.112 - Seawing is listed as an Autobot.
  • Pg.113 - Like Cheetor, Nosecone's vehicle mode is not technically mis-built, but his limbs and tank treads are splayed out all weird, plus his blaster isn't put in its proper place on top of the tank mode.
  • Pg.115 - Long Haul's name is spelled "Longhaul", plus his vehicle mode is shot from the back.
  • Pg.130 - Predaking is—you guessed it—listed as a Prime Predacon.
  • Pg.136~137 - Hun-Gurrr is spelled "Hun Gur".
