South Snarl (南スナール Minami Sunāru) is one of the five major continents on planet Beast. Only the eastern side of the continent has been developed; the western side, taking up over half the landmass, is an uncivilized, savage land, with the massive Lake Midi (ミディ湖 Midi-ko) serving as much of the border between the two sides.

It is also the resting place of one of the Three Wise Ones' elemental gems, the Water Gem of Motion.

Geography

[edit]

Lennonia (レノニア Renonia)

The northernmost Kingdom on South Snarl, it is one of the three Kingdoms to directly share a land border with the Rockland, and has the largest stretch of shared border at that. It is no surprise that this is the land that gave birth to two of the toughest of Beast's would-be conquerors, Alligatron and Killer Fish. Natural features include the Bow River (バウ川 Bau-gawa) and the Wow River (ワウ川 Wau-gawa).

Ringostan (リンゴスタン Ringosutan)

The entire western border of this Kingdom is taken up by the waters of Lake Midi. Locations include Starr City (スターシティー Sutā Shitī).

Harriso (ハリソ Hariso)

Harriso has the longest stretch of aquatic border with the Rockland, with a small stretch of land connecting the two at the southern end. It contains Platinum City (プラチナシティー Purachina Shitī), which is turning into the fashion capital of Beast.

Lapaul (ラポール Rapōru)

Lapaul is the only Kingdom in South Snarl to not share a border in any capacity with the Rockland, and has an extensive amount of beach.

Johnston (ジョンストン Jonsuton)

The southernmost Kingdom on the continent. It includes the city of Zebra (ゼブラ Zebura).

Rockland (ロックランド Rokkurando)

Taking up most of the continent, the western area known as "Rockland" is an undeveloped and lawless place where only the tough survive. The brutal Pangol was born there, though he would leave and end up far north, becoming Emperor of West Yutoranta.
It is in this harsh area that both the Water Gem of Motion and the powerful Stag Hunter vehicle were hidden away.

Fiction

Beastformers comic

[edit]

Rivers in Rockland began overflowing and flooding when the imbalances between the six elemental gems left by the Three Wise Ones caused weather patterns on Beast to became abnormal, so it was suspected that the Water Gem of Motion was hidden somewhere in the area. South Snarl somehow remained the only major landmass on Beast without at least one region taken over by the Laser Beasts (yet). But many of its warriors would travel to other parts of the planet to fight the invaders. Beastformers VS Laser Beasts

Notes

[edit]
  • South Snarl's countries are named after members of The Beatles, with John Lennon getting two countries based on his name. The others, of course, being Ringo Starr (who gets a city as well), Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. "Rockland" is presumably, then, a reference to rock music.
  • Lennonia's Wow River is mistakenly called "Wauru" (ワウル) on Killer Fish and Crystal Killer Fish's pack-in bio cards, with Wau-gawa (ワウ川) only appearing in Killer's bio in the Hero Special 4: Beastformers mook. "Wauru" is almost certainly a typo since there is no indication as to what kind of geographic location it would be, and of course, a river makes sense in the context of "where the fish characters were born". Though of course it could be a reference to one of John Lennon's songs, "I Am the Walrus".
