Magnetic inducer

Among many things, Wheeljack's shoulder-mounted cannon can fire magnetic inducer shells. On detonation, they cover the target in a special magnetic dust. The victim, now magnetized, will find every metal object within 4000 feet is suddenly flying towards them. The dust may also force the victim to change mode and/or disable them.

[edit]Following the construction of the Dinobots, the Autobots found themselves under attack by their own creations. Grimlock, Slag and Sludge rampaged through Headquarters until Optimus Prime ordered they be destroyed. Wheeljack instead suggested the use of his magnetic inducer, which covered the three Dinobots in shimmering yellow dust and forced them to return to robot mode, successfully halting their ruckus. Toys
[edit]The Transformers
[edit]
- Wheeljack (Autobot Car, 1984/1985)
- Accessories: 2 shoulder cannons, 4 rockets, left & right wings, left & right spoiler halves
- The Transformers Wheeljack could fire magnetic inducer shells from his shoulder cannons according to his packaging bio. This toy was released again in 1990 as part of the European/Australian Classics line.
Notes
[edit]- Wheeljack's original toy came with four rockets; taken in conjunction with his packaging bio text these could represent a gyro-inhibitor shell, a magnetic inducer shell, a shrapnel needle shell, and perhaps a new type of shell that Wheeljack is currently experimenting on.
- The specific wording of Wheeljack's bio—"Shoots magnetic inducer, shrapnel needle and gyro-inhibitor shells from his shoulder cannons"—is somewhat ambiguous, perhaps leading to this weapon being depicted as a magnetic inducer shell in some continuities and as a magnetic inducer in its own right in others.
