Nijika

Nijika is an android from the cartoon portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Nijika, the Sky-Dancer, was a highly sophisticated android with the appearance of a Zamojin noblewoman, created by Niko Don to crew a spaceship he'd built to explore beyond Zamojin.

As he himself was forbidden from flying the rocket he'd built, Zamojin scientist Niko Don built Nijika to pilot it in his stead. The launch of the rocket was aborted when the planet came under attack by the Quintessons, who feared what the Zamojin might become if they had the technology to travel to the stars. Nijika was knocked from the side of the rocket, the impact damaging her and destroying her face. Nijika remained in a damaged state, being passed down to Niko Don's descendants for approximately the next five thousand years.

Eventually Nijika ended up in the hands of Katsu Don, a blacksmith. The quadrant lock the Quintessons had used to seal the planet away was breached by a group of Autobots, including Perceptor, who was recovered by Katsu. Katsu removed the Autobot's insignia and used it to replace Nijika's lost face. Unbeknownst to him, Perceptor's personality became implanted in Nijika courtesy of the universal emulator hidden behind the insignia.

However, the Quintessons also needed the universal emulator, so they had Cyclonus grab Nijika while Perceptor was persuading the Zamojin that Blurr was friendly. Once the Quintessons had the emulator, Nijika was thrown from their ship and (presumably) landed safely, though once again in a non-operative state. Thanks to Perceptor's work, the Zamojin's telepathic network was restored, and Katsu Don promised he would finish Niko Don's work, repair Nijika and presumably build a new rocket. Legends comic

[edit]

Nijika was the "big sister" of Windblade. LG12 Windblade At some point, she was given a new body that doubled as a handheld weapon for Katsu Don and possessed the ability to drain beast Transformers of their Beast Power. Katsu Don used Nijika to defeat Leo Prime and attack Lio Junior in the Legends World, but during a rematch, Leo Prime was able to knock her out of his hands. LG41 Leo Prime Nijika was damaged in the battle and Katsu Don began to rebuild her as a full-scale Transformer, though she was left without a head and he deemed Perceptor's parts necessary to complete her. He returned to the Legends World, took Perceptor's head and attached it to Nijika, but the Autobot resisted and Katsu Don had to flee with Nijika's body. LG56 Perceptor

Katsu Don was later approached by Windblade who asked him to convert her into a Headmaster so that she could attach to Nijika's body and use her power to save the Legends World. He agreed on a certain condition and combined the two sisters, creating a Nijika-Windblade combination who was powerful enough to defeat the Targetmasters threatening the world. Robots in Disguise (2015)

Probably in-scale with a human hand.

Part of wave six of Robots in Disguise Legion Class figures, Windblade transforms from a robot into a jet and back. She features 3mm-compatible posts on her hands and wings.
Her scannable insignia is in her left wing turbine, accessible when in-package.

Titans Return

And then Hasbro said, "Wait, we can make anyone into Titan Masters?"

Windblade is an extensive retool of Titans Return Deluxe Class Highbrow (who was already an extensive retool of the same line's Scourge, the three only sharing the innermost torso assemblies and the upper legs), transforming into a VTOL jet. She comes with the Titan Master Scorchfire, who fits into her vehicle mode cockpit and transforms into her robot mode head. As with other Titans Return toys, Windblade can accommodate any Titan Master figure in both robot and vehicle mode. Windblade's two swords can stow on her back or combine into a larger weapon/Titan Master vehicle which can also attach just behind the cockpit in jet mode.

Legends

Pinpointer? I barely knew 'er! (I'm sorry)
  • Targetmaster Windblade (February 24, 2018)
    • Japanese ID number: LG62
    • Accessories: Sword, scabbard, Headmaster, Pointech Targetmaster partner
{{#switch: {{{1}}}|plural = The Windblade toy's body portion were repurposed|{{#if:Windblade toy's body portion|The Windblade toy's body portion toy|This toy}} was repurposed}} as Nijika{{#if:"LG62 Targetmaster Windblade"| by "LG62 Targetmaster Windblade"|}}{{#if:| in {{{year}}}|}}.
Legends Targetmaster Windblade is a redeco of her Titans Return Deluxe Class figure, featuring paint apps and plastic color changes that make her resemble her comic coloration a bit better. Among these are added blue paint apps on her brow with a less blank stare looking face paint, a white nosecone and VTOL fans, completely black shoulders, and black knees with blue highlights. Interestingly enough her blue collar is translucent blue plastic with silver painted underneath, creating a layered effect, rather than directly painted blue like the Titans Returns version. Windblade ditches the Titan Master-compatible swords in exchange for a sword and scabbard similar, if not identical, to her Thrilling 30/Legends one. She also gains a Targetmaster partner that uses the same transformation scheme as Recoil, but is decoed to resemble Pinpointer/Pointech. Her Headmaster gimmick remains intact with additional paint apps on the mini figure's arms and shins.

Notes

[edit]
  • Nijika's red-on-white face evokes [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}kumadori|{{#if:||kumadori}}]], the characteristic makeup worn by [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}kabuki|{{#if:||kabuki}}]] actors to depict virtuous characters and the more red, the more energetic the character. In real life, female kabuki characters do not wear bold red, not to mention that women are officially banned from performing kabuki.
