Override and other members of the Courier Mini-Con Team transported data-cons too sensitive for regular channels on Earth and Velocitron. One hopes that they weren't confused with the other Override. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/07/20

Overridden.
  • Ultra Magnus (Ultra, 2004 (unreleased version))
A planned redeco of the Armada Street Speed Mini-Con Team member Backtrack, Override transforms into a Cadillac XLR luxury car. The coloration of the entire team is based on the Japanese market exclusive Super Stunt Team, just with the colors rotated between the three of them (with Override using Servo's colors on Redline's sculpt).
Ultimately, Override was never released at retail. The redecoed Street Speed Team members were displayed at OTFCC 2003, and the toys were intended to be included with Energon Ultra Magnus, but they were replaced with same-character redecos of the Space Mini-Con Team presumably at the last possible minute. Leaked packaged samples of Ultra Magnus that have made it out into the secondary market contain the Street Speed Mini-Cons in their intended colors<ref name="leaked">Remy's photo of MISB Ultra Magnus with Street Speed Mini-Cons</ref> (see also the image to the right), and the final release version still lists them on both sides of the packaging, although the back of the box shows them in the original Armada Street Speed Team's colors (as well as Ultra Magnus in Armada Overload's colors).<ref name="usbox">BWTF review of Energon Ultra Magnus with photos of the toy in US packaging.</ref> The Japanese "USA Edition" release (in minimally modified Hasbro packaging) still lists the Street Speed Team on the front of the box, but covers the portion on the back that depicts the Street Speed Mini-Cons with a grayscale sticker depicting the Space Team,<ref name="usaedit">Soundwave's Oblivion photos of the Japanese "USA Edition" release in packaging.</ref> whereas the European packaging lists and depicts the Space Team (albeit still in their Armada colors).<ref name="eurobox">Seibertron.com gallery of Energon Ultra Magnus in European packaging.</ref>
The same sculpt is used by Redline (as mentioned above) and Side Burn, and a retooled version originally used for the Cybertron version of Backtrack was also used for Dice.

Notes

[edit]
  • A popular fan-theory posits that this change was due to the redecoed Street Speed Team's (intentional) resemblance to the Super Stunt Team colors. But if that were the case, it seems that it would have been a lot easier on Hasbro's part to simply stick with the intended sculpts and change their colors rather than replacing the sculpts themselves.
  • Since Hasbro had gone through the process of trademarking the names, they were later used in the Cybertron series for three inhabitants of Velocitron (in Override's case, Cybertron Override).
  • Though unreleased, Override later received some characterization in a 2015 entry of the Facebook edition of Ask Vector Prime, which also established the team's name.
