Razorkukku

Razorkukku is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.
The best to you each morning!

Though his flying skills pale in comparison to most flight-capable Beastformer warriors, Razorkukku (レーザークック Rēzākukku) is nonetheless a brilliant aerial tactician and warrior. A cautious sort, his specialty is defense, and makes sure to make the most out of every advantage he has, skills that have put him high in the chain of command of White Leo's aerial forces. And when worse comes to worse, he can hunker down and use his MVP Weapon, the Valiant Razor (バリアントレーザー Barianto Rēzā) can create a rotating barrier strong enough to withstand the blast of an atomic bomb.

But frankly, he'd really rather not be doing any of that. Despite being the Emperor of East Yutoranta, he much prefers the quiet, humble life, spending time with family and throwing get-togethers with friends. He enjoys cooking and sharing meals with friends and strangers alike. He gets along wonderfully with the similarly beneficent King Strong Panda.

Transformers: Beastformers

Know that my name is Razorkukku!
  • Razorkukku (Beastformer, 1987)
  • ID number: 63
  • Pack: E
  • Accessories: Double-bladed staff (usually)
Part of the third series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Razorkukku is an anthropomorphic rooster in blue robotic armor. The Battle Emblem on his chest reveals one of three symbols when warmed up; Fire, Water or Wood.
He usually comes with a gray double-bladed staff weapon marked with the same ID number as on his back. However, Beastformers is notorious for toys coming with someone else's weapon; it's unclear if this was just originally poor QC, but in the sequel series, this semi-random weaponry was actually turned into a "gimmick".
He was only available in the "E Pack" assortment, and came in a green-grid generic "Cybertron Beastformer" box. He came with a bio card with a comic-style character image on a jungle backdrop, though there was a chance his bio card would instead be replaced with the rare "VS Holography Mirror" card featuring Green Chameles and Platinum Tiger.

Beastformers

[edit]
  • Razorkukku (Beastformer, 1988)
  • ID number: 63
  • Accessories: "Valiant Razor" MVP Weapon (usually)
Re-released in Beastformers's post-Transformers sequel series, Razorkukku was given a straight re-release with new packaging and a new, more filled-out bio card with comic-style character art on the front. This new card also gave his weapon, now branded an "MVP Weapon", the name "Valiant Razor". Speaking of, once again he could come with someone else's weapon instead.
He was sold in the second assortment of individually-packed Beastformers, with a peg-hole in the top flap, and a sticker on the bottom with his name and role on it. This series did not have any kind of "rare card" random pack-in promotion. Samples of Razorkukku (among others) have also been found on simple bubble cards, with the bio card positioned so the name shows clearly under the figure's feet, but it is uncertain if this style of packaging was ever properly sold at retail.
Late in the run, the "mood ring" styled rubsigns were replaced with new rubsigns that revealed full-color Fire/Wood/Water images on black backdrops. (These rubsign variants also happened at the same time in the Hasbro Battle Beast version of the line.)

Notes

[edit]
  • Okay... for the longest time, it was thought by the English-speaking fandom that his name was, ahem, "Laser Cock". Let's get those giggles out now, shall we? We'll wait.
  • Done? No?
  • Okay. Now. So, yeah. "Cock", of course, being another word for a male chicken. Examining the actual katakana for his name, "レーザークック"...
    • "レーザー" (rēzā) is used to transliterate both "razor" and "laser", but the clearly bladed weapon makes "razor" sound the better choice.
    • More importantly, "クック" (kukku) is the Japanese onomatopoeia for the clucking sound a chicken makes. (If it was actually supposed to be "cock" it would be written as コック kokku.) And since we do not change Japanese-word names on this wiki (like the Trainbots), we're sticking with the onomatopoeia.
  • Sorry.
