Antarctica

Antarctica is the massive, ice-covered continent at the South Pole of planet Earth. Several battles in the various Transformer wars have taken place there.

[edit]A region of Antarctica had been maintained by unspecified means with a tropical climate and many life forms from the Mezozoic Era, including dinosaurs. It was in this region, known as the Savage Land, that the Dinobots fought with Shockwave and became trapped in a tar pit. The Last Stand

[edit]In 1992 the Dinobots returned to Antarctica to locate the control crystal of the shuttle that originally took them there in an attempt to save Snarl from Corrodia Gravis, but found that a human had taken the crystal to protect the local dinosaurs from a deadly disease. Battle Beneath the Ice
[edit]By the year 2000, the Antarctic had been opened up to oil drilling by the Federation of Western Europe. The discovery at Erebus oil fields not of oil, but of a hostile alien civilization, was a double-downer for new-age tree-hugging hippie peacenicks everywhere. Story of Binaltech
[edit]The Earth Defense Command had built a base in Antarctica by 2005. After defeating Unicron at Cybertron and executing Operation: Distant Thunder at Dinobot Island, the two main groups of Autobots regrouped at the EDC's Antarctic base. There, they conferred with the mysterious "Protector", who explained to them about how he had preserved their timeline as its own timeline distinct from the main timeline. Binal Time

The United Nations Wintering Observation Base in Antarctica was destroyed when the Decepticons began drilling for oil there. The loss of the station was noticed by the Autobots and the Multiforce went to investigate, leading to a battle with Liokaiser that was observed by a small group of survivors from the station. As the battle raged on, the survivors found themselves adrift on a slab of ice, and it wasn't until more Autobots arrived that they were rescued by Boater. [edit]The Predacons set a trap for the Autobots in Antarctica, stealing diamonds from a mine. To their surprise, instead of the expected Autobot Brothers, the Build Team turned up instead. Sky-Byte took their leader, Wedge captive, trading the young bot for a disk supposedly containing the plans for the Autobot Global Space Bridge which was promptly stolen by one of the many penguins inhabiting the continent. The NS Yamal was on its way to McMurdo Station to reunite people with their families for Christmas when it was attacked by Megatron and Starscream. They intended to make the ship's reactors meltdown so they could expose energon deposits under the ice, however they were foiled by Optimus Prime and his team. The Autobots guided the ship itself to McMurdo before the crew recovered consciousness. Ice Breaker

[edit]The Apex Armor ended up frozen in the Antarctic and was discovered by humans who took it back to their base. Optimus, Dreadwing and Starscream all came looking for it. Optimus had Agent Fowler evacuate the base, and in the ensuing battle, much of it was damaged. Triangulation

The Autobot strike force encountered an abandoned human encampment and a large icebreaker ship, and had their first of two battles with Starscream.
