G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers

[edit]

Steeler participated alongside the rest of G.I. Joe on a raid of Cobra Island, joining in a three-way brawl between the Autobots, the Decepticons, and the Cobra terrorist organization. His squad was tasked with capturing the command center for the SPS Satellite, as part of a plan to shoot down incoming nukes. Alongside Bumblebee, they fought off Storm Shadow and several Cobra Vipers, allowing Mainframe and Wheeljack the time to save everyone from nuclear armageddon. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #6

Transformers vs. G.I. Joe

[edit]

After G.I. Joe met with representatives from the planet Cybertron and found them to be enemies of the Earth, Steeler was among the operatives sent to the metal sphere to invade it. I Saw Three Ships

The Joes began their attack on Cybertron by sending down "green bombs" from the air. But when they targeted the mobile city of Trypticon, they found it protected by a forcefield. Their attempt to bomb it provoked a counter-attack from the Decepticons, with Devastator tearing up the portion of the Defiant housing Steeler. Steeler nonetheless managed to make it back to Green Zone 0-8-6, the Joes' temporary base on the alien world. Later that night, he helped secure Wheeljack after the Autobot triggered a perimeter trap, and became the Joes' first P.O.W. in the inter-planetary war. Targetmasters

Steeler then assisted his fellow Joes in vivisecting the Cybertronian, believing the giant to be little more than an unfeeling machine. The operation was tabled just in time for Wheeljack's friends to burst in on the scene and launch an offensive against the Joes. The humans returned fire, until blasts from both sides rendered all combatants unconscious. Funeral for a Friend

Both teams eventually awakened and readied to take up arms once more when Grimlock showed up, accompanied by Breaker, Jinx, Cover Girl, and Clutch. Grimlock declared a truce between the Joes and the Autobots had been reached, and both factions partied together to cement their alliance. Form Follows Function The Joes then moved into Metroplex, the Autobots' mobile city. They had little time to settle in before the Decepticons launched an attack against the newly formed alliance, and both men and machines scrambled to take them on. Steeler was the one who explained the situation to a group of latecomers, and then headed out into the field to do his part. After a hard-fought battle, the Decepticons and their Cobra allies were forced into a tactical retreat. Everybody Hates Metroplex Steeler participated in a strike on the Astrotrain in an effort to free several Joes and Autobots that had been taken captive during the battle. Though they were unsuccessful in busting anyone out, Steeler, Beachhead, Quick Kick, and Scarlett managed to hitch a ride atop of the train, all the way to the city of Scorponok. Expelled from the Garden But once they arrived, the Joes were subjected to mind-manipulation tactics by "Doctor Mindelbender." Steeler was made to think that none of his adventures with G.I. Joe had ever happened, and that he was instead a normal suburbanite from the town of Springfield. Scarlett managed to hold on to her identity throughout the process, and helped free the others from the illusion they were being held under. Together, the Joes rounded up the Autobots (locked in their vehicle modes and in an unresponsive state) and busted their way out of the city built into Scorponok's back. Headmasters

Following Earth's apparent destruction in a collision with Cybertron, Steeler had a chat with Blowtorch over the Oktober Guard's declaration that Cybertron was now "New Transylvania", saying he didn't care what the Guard did as long as it drew Decepticon fire. Earth: R.I.P. During the final battle between the joint Joe-Autobot army and Decepticobra, Steeler came to a downed Defensor's rescue, seeking to repay his component Rescuebots for their resolve to defend humanity. He used the Bridge Layer to prop up Defensor's weapon for him, allowing the Autobot to shoot and defeat Trypticon. Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #12
