Cover Girl

Cover Girl is a human and member of G.I. Joe from the G.I. Joe portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Easy, breezy, beautiful.

When Courtney A. Krieger grew disillusioned with her career as a fashion model, she joined G.I. Joe under the codename Cover Girl. She now spends her time as the Joes' resident grease monkey and the primary operator of the Wolverine missile track, all the while shocking people with her good looks.

G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers

[edit]

Courtney Krieger was part of the United States military when Cobra first revealed themselves and attacked Washington, D.C. with their giant robots. She charged in with her Wolverine missile tank and offered a lift to the trooper known as "Snake-Eyes", but the vehicle was blown to bits by Starscream. Krieger was unhurt, but was horrified to see what the attack had done to Snake-Eyes's face. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #1 After G.I. Joe was created to counter the threat of Cobra, Krieger joined them and took on the codename Cover Girl. During the Joes' mission to defend the SPS Research Facility, she ordered Bumblebee to give himself up. When the robot didn't cooperate, Cover Girl opened fire on him, to little effect. Sci-Fi told her to cut it out since Bumblebee appeared to be a good guy. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #3

Two years later, Cover Girl was part of a team of Joes sent to stop Cobra from experimenting with teleportation technology in Boston. Unfortunately, Cobra's wormhole computer malfunctioned, sending everyone present to Cybertron. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II #1 After a while, they were attacked by Shockwave's troops and forced to hide. Cover Girl ended up having to look at someone's terrible burn scars a second time, as Storm Shadow's back had been badly burnt by Decepticon lasers. She bonded with the ninja whilst attending to his wounds, and once the Decepticons had been taken care of, the two exchanged some loving glances before returning to Earth. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II #4

When Serpent O.R. took control of the remaining Decepticons, Cover Girl was amongst the G.I. Joes sent to Cybertron to fight them. Together with the Autobots, they defeated the Decepticon army, and Cover Girl arrived in Serpent O.R.'s headquarters just in time to blast a hole through Hun-Gurrr before he killed Optimus Prime. The Art of War #5 Some time later, she traveled to Tibet to aid Flint and Hawk in the fight against Cobra-La. Black Horizon, Part 2 of 2

Cover Girl was among the new G.I. Joe recruits finishing up Spirit's wilderness survival and recon training in 1985. Following their training, Spirit took Cover Girl, Barbecue and Alpine with him to secure a crash site near Mount St. Hilary. At the site, they met with another squad led by Flint, although Cover Girl initially mistook them for Cobra soldiers. She was then gawked at by Bazooka, which didn't please her in the least.

Soon, the Joes found Cobra troopers attempting to steal something from the crash site. Cover Girl attempted to shoot down their F.A.N.G. helicopters, but they turned out to be bulletproof. They eventually managed to stop Cobra, and learned that they had had been trying to haul away two alien robots. After heading to G.I. Joe HQ, Cover Girl was gawked at by Shipwreck, but didn't seem to notice. Targets of Opportunity

Transformers vs. G.I. Joe

[edit]

After G.I. Joe met with representatives from the planet Cybertron and found them to be enemies of the Earth, Cover Girl was among the operatives sent to the metal sphere to invade it. I Saw Three Ships

The Joes began their attack on Cybertron by sending down "green bombs" from the air. But when they targeted the mobile city of Trypticon, they found it protected by a forcefield. Their attempt to bomb it provoked a counter-attack from the Decepticons, with Devastator tearing up the portion of the Defiant housing Cover Girl. She parachuted out of the craft, only to be captured by the Insecticons and brought to Megatron's throne room alongside Breaker, Jinx, Clutch, Brawn and Perceptor. The Autobots escaped thanks to Mirage coming back for his friends, and Brawn brought the humans along with him as they made a break for the Autobot city of Metroplex. Targetmasters

Cover Girl and the other captive Joes were presented to King Grimlock as P.O.W.s. Though Cover Girl threatened the Autobots by claiming they had weapons rigged to go off if harm came to them, Grimlock declared that he had no mercy for the off-worlders, and promptly dropped them in a pool filled with Sharkticons! Thankfully, another Autobot, Arcee, took mercy on the Joes, and tossed them their weapons to give them a fighting chance against the ravenous monsters. Cover Girl and the others succeeded in fending off the Sharkticons, and emerged from the pool. Funeral for a Friend

The four Joes then accompanied Grimlock and his soldiers to Green Zone 0-8-6 aboard Metroplex. Finding Autobots and Joes readying to fight one another there, Grimlock announced a truce and both factions partied together to cement their alliance. Form Follows Function After the Joes set up base camp within Metroplex, Stalker confided in Cover Girl that he still didn't feel entirely at ease with their new allies. She later rode on top of Slag alongside him when the Decepticobra alliance attacked the city. Everybody Hates Metroplex Once the enemy forces had been driven off, Bazooka showed Cover Girl, Duke, Brawn, Mirage, and Rodimus some elaborate scribbles he had created while in a mystical trance; a map to the chamber of Primus. The six of them were joined by Tripwire and followed the map to an underground chamber containing the face of the Transformers' creator-god atop whose face rested a Megatronian temple guarded by Decepticon zealots Expelled from the Garden

Managing to evade the Decepticons, the group descended deeper into the bowels of Cybertron meeting the Keeper who told them all the tale of Daiakuron, the being who had birthed Primus. As Brawn and Cover Girl explored more of the chamber, Brawn theorized that Daiakuron might also have created Earth. Earth: R.I.P. Soon afterwards, Primus began his transformation to robot mode, the group fleeing the chamber. Escape from Primus

When the time for the final battle came, Cover Girl was part of the group that roused Metroplex back to robot mode. Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #12

Once the war had ended, Cover Girl and Brawn retired to Earth, wedding and using various technologies to produce a Human/Cybertronian child. The War Never Ends

After the defunct G.I. Joe was reformed as an international organization, Cover Girl was brought back onto the team. At their new underwater base Lemuria, Cover Girl complained to the ship's captain Shipwreck about the environmentally friendly meals he was having the mess hall serve up but was silenced when he agreed to not give her another lecture on environmentalism if she just choked it down. When Scarlett gave Cover Girl's tablemates Lady Jaye and Gung-Ho an undercover assignment in Athens, she found their cover story of being a backpacking couple sweet. G.I. Joe vol. 5 #1

Cover Girl was part of Roadblock's team on a mission to liberate Hohot from Crystal Ball and the Dreadnoks. As the Joes met up with Ying and Yong, their guides through Hohot, Cover Girl found Ying's British accent rather odd. She ended up having good reason to be suspicious, as the Joes soon discovered their guides were actually Zarana and Zandar in disguise and that they had been led into a trap! As Crystal Ball sicced the Dreadnoks on the team, Cover Girl wasted no time whipping out two laser pistols and fighting back. G.I. Joe vol. 5 #2 As the Joes were swarmed by legions of mind controlled civilians, Rock 'n Roll figured the best solution to help cure them would be to get Crystal Ball away from them and, to that end, suggested Cover Girl secure the team some transport. After Quick Kick cleared a path that she could escape from Crystal Ball's palace through, she had some difficulty finding something, eventually having to settle on a beat up old jeep. Picking up her team, who were fairly disappointed by what she'd found, and their prisoner Crystal Ball, Cover Girl sped off as fast as she could but was soon pursued by the Dreadnoks. G.I. Joe vol. 5 #3 Though she fought back against them with both driving and guns, the Dreadnoks quickly managed to take out the jeep, forcing the Joes to abandon it and make a stand against their foes. Shortly after they did, Skywarp arrived out of the blue but rather than assist the team, he instead said he was only there to bring Doc into custody, something that left Cover Girl rather perplexed. However, this wasn't nearly as perplexing to her as the giant monster that then emerged from underground and dragged the Dreadnoks back down with it. G.I. Joe vol. 5 #4

After Hohot, more and more of these strange monsters began emerging all over the world, leading to G.I. Joe focusing on fighting back against them. With Scarlett needing Roadblock at the base, she placed Cover Girl in command of a mission to repel a monster that had emerged from Mount Cotopaxi in Ecuador. After having Skywarp engage the beast, Cover Girl began firing on it with her Wolverine but didn't do much good. After her tank was crushed, Cover Girl was amazed to find Salvo was able to finally push the monster back into the volcano with the aid of two absurdly huge guns. However, the monster's retreat also caused Cotopaxi to erupt. Though her team was now preparing to evac, Cover Girl noticed that there was a village at the foot of the mountain and decided that it was their responsibility to help them get clear of the lava's path. G.I. Joe vol. 5 #5

Cover Girl was part of the G.I. Joe squad that went to collect Garrison Kreiger and the Talisman from the Onyx tower in Buenos Aires before a battle broke out with the Iron Ring. When Eagles Scream Ghost in the Machine

With Scarlett and Roadblock away on a mission to Cybertron, interim Joe commander Shipwreck picked Cover Girl for his team to stop Cobra as they began robbing a museum in St. Petersburg, less because of any particular specialty she had that would help the mission and more because she was one of the first Joes he found. Getting paired up with the similarly selected Salvo and Lifeline, Cover Girl pursued Ice Queen and Stiletto in the Crossfire but Shipwreck not accounting for the former V.E.N.O.M. agents' transforming vehicles allowed them to get away. G.I. Joe: First Strike Even though she didn't keep her place on Shipwreck's refined fast-response team, she still celebrated with them after they managed to take them down in New York City. M.A.S.K.: First Strike

Working alongside her new, ex-M.A.S.K. teammate Spectrum, Cover Girl built a new vehicle that would see use on G.I. Joe's mission to investigate Cobra activity in the North Pole. Driving out the back of Lift-Ticket's Tomahawk, Cover Girl showed her passenger Roadblock the contribution Spectrum made to the vehicle when she broke their fall by activating it's hover mode. Scarlett's Strike Force #1 Shortly after arriving, the Joes were descended upon by a group of dinosaurs. These raptors were able to keep pace with Cover Girl's new ride, which was briefly wrecked after being smacked around by an ankylosaurus's tail. While she worked on fixing it up, she helped the her teammates ambush Raptor and Croc Master. Scarlett's Strike Force #2 After making their way to the Cobra temple, Cover Girl drove through the hordes of Vipers surrounding the place. During the assault on the temple, Cover Girl came up with the name "Jeep-pocalypse" for her new vehicle but wasn't quite happy with it. Scarlett's Strike Force #3

Cover Girl was originally a fashion model before joining G.I. Joe; although she specialized in heavy armor operations, she was frequently called upon to help her fellow Joes fit in when attempting to infiltrate various high society gatherings. As a French speaker and a former socialite, Cover Girl was frequently deployed to France to provide diplomatic support for G.I. Joe’s various international operations. During her latest deployment, however, she discovered that Stalker had summoned her, Mainframe, and Doc to their base camp in La Grande Dune du Pilat to help repair a critically wounded Bumblebee. With the assistance of Bulkhead and Minerva, and a cannibalized A.W.E. Striker, the group soon got Bumblebee back on his feet in a tougher, combat-ready configuration.

After a brief chase through the streets of Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, the team successfully captured Swindle, but realized that “Baroness” was actually her body double, Chameleon. All was not lost, however, as the intel Chameleon provided led them to a secret cybernetics lab in the Pyrenees, where they discovered that the villains had pooled their resources to construct the hybrid warrior Fusion. Cobra/Con Fusion

Cover Girl was later transported to the Apex when the evil Lord MindWaveZ merged many realities together into one chaotic realm. Along with Ratchet and T.J. Johnson, the three assisted a group of heroes as they battled Lord MindWaveZ and attempted to restore their worlds to normal. Worlds Collide: Battle for the Multiverse
