A young Optimus has a terrifying encounter while on a training mission; Swindle profits to ridiculous excess from an argument between Lugnut and Blitzwing.

"Survival Skills"

Synopsis

On a distant planet, Optimus is alone on a training exercise when he sees the rescue ship arriving early... only it's not a rescue ship, it's the Decepticon leader, Megatron. Though frightened, Optimus keeps his wits about him and rams Megatron in truck mode, but gets stuck in the mud while trying to escape. He blocks a fatal blow from Megatron's sword and uses his fire foam and grappler to ensnare Megatron, but just when he's about to dispatch the Decepticon with his axe, Megatron impales the Autobot with his sword.

The whole mission turns out to be just simulated combat, however, and Sentinel sneers to Elita-1 that Optimus got his skidplate handed to him. Ultra Magnus interrupts, however, and states that Optimus scored higher than anyone else on the combat simulator. Magnus then tells an incredulous Optimus that he expects great things from him.

"Everything Must Go"

Synopsis

In the Decepticon refugee colony New Kaon, Blitzwing bargains with Lockdown for the captured Optimus Prime. This is overheard by Lugnut, who attacks Blitzwing for dealing with bounty hunters and for insinuating that Megatron is dead. Blitzwing is knocked through a wall, where Swindle offers him a weapon to help him in his skirmish...provided that Blitzwing has the available credit downloads. He uses the weapon on Lugnut, to whom Swindle runs to offer weapons as well. Swindle goes back and forth, repairing the loser and selling him increasingly destructive weapons (which ends in disaster for New Kaon) until Lugnut and Blitzwing both realize that they've been duped when they attempt to use the same kind of weapon against each other. They then both mangle Swindle into a ball, which is still smiling, since the customer is always right.

Transformers references

• "Everything Must Go" takes place during and after the events of "The Thrill of the Hunt", as evidenced by the opening conversation between Lockdown and Blitzwing, which is lifted directly from that episode.
• Several deliciously obscure planets from previous Transformers adventures are name-dropped by Swindle in "Everything Must Go," including Torkulon and Menonia from the Generation 1 cartoon, Darhos from The Headmasters (albeit misspelled as "Dahros," and seemingly conflated with the similarly named Daros from the same series, with mentions of an inhospitable northern hemisphere), and Andellor from the Blackthorne's Transformers in 3-D. Talos Four's name resembles Taros Four from "The Dark Heart of Sandokan".
• On top of that, the weapons that Swindle has obtained from some of these planets (and some unnamed others) are all pre-existing Transformer weapons of varying degrees of obscurity: an anti-gravity cannon, a triple crusher cannon, an omega bomb and two Nemesis Shields. "Glass gas" is also employed; although unnamed, it is easily recognizable.

• "Everything Must Go" would appear to be a parody of Dr. Seuss's "[[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}The Sneetches|{{#if:||The Sneetches}}]]" and "[[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}The Butter Battle Book|{{#if:||The Butter Battle Book}}]]", right down to some of the extremely whimsical Seuss-like weapon designs.
