Talk:Beast Gear

Am I correct in thinking this is basically all named weapons for the Beast Hunters line?KrytenKoro 12:44, 23 March 2013 (EDT)

I personally have only seen "Beast Gear" used at the end of Hunt the Beasts to advertise the Autobot toys. But it seems like a good a name as any for the toyline wide gimmick of specially named weapons. - Starfield 13:20, 23 March 2013 (EDT)
Should "already existing" weapons like the Forge of Solus Prime, Hyperflux Cannon, or Predacon weapons be considered Beast Gear? I'm kinda thinking no, but they are built into the linewide gimmick.KrytenKoro 11:49, 3 April 2013 (EDT)
I'm not positive "Beast Gear" refers to the whole line gimmick. At the end of "Hunt the Beasts" it was only used when the Autobot toys were listed. - Starfield 22:27, 14 April 2013 (EDT)
Draft

Beast Gear is the main gimmick, if you can call it that, of the Beast Hunters toyline. Rather similar to the mechanics of the Arms Micron gimmick, each figure in the line comes with a signature weapon whose unique characteristics are detailed in the toy instructions; however, beyond the weapons' write-up and their vague hunt-and-capture focus, there's not much to distinguish the concept from the weapons that Transformers toys would generally be packaged with. While the Autobot and Decepticon Beast Gear are simply plugged into the Transformers' alternate modes as distinct pieces, the Predacon Beast Gear are built seamlessly into their draconic alternate modes much as in the Beast Wars toyline.

For this subline, on-package bios were reduced in length to just a sentence or two, and instead instruction sheets feature facts about the figure's weapon, and a chapter of the Tales of the Beast Hunters prose story, each of which focuses on the appropriate character in addition to continuing an ongoing story.

At New York Comic Con 2012, the Eagleshot Bow was announced as the "Hawkbow," and the Talon Grapple Cannon as the "Thunder Talon." A packaging comparison image in the NYCC slideshow also identified "Laserback" as coming with the "Acid Strike Blaster," though the actual slide for Lazerback featured both the final character and weapon name.
