Talk:Deathsaurus (G1)
So can we agree on the name "Deathsaurus" here since that Botcon toy thingy RiD repaint bore his name, or is it still an issue? A footnote about pronunciation and translation will do, right? --DrSpengler 03:16, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- His name is definitely Deathsaurus. --ItsWalky 03:19, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- It absolutely is. I am really glad that none of the people who claim otherwise are here, because I am SO sick of that argument. --Suki Brits 03:21, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well you're wrong there, because there are people who claim otherwise here. Namely me. Deszaras all the way. In fact, who the hell voted for this anyway? --Takeshi357 14:17, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, considering that you appear to have first arrived almost seven months after he said that, he seems to have been right. And if you'll look down and actually read the entire talk page, you'll see the reasoning behind the decision. --Andrusi 16:07, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Which is what? The BotCon toy? "Deathsaurus" is based on a misspelling anyway and should remain unused on that basis alone. Besides, the fact that the "Deszaras" spelling is now used on an official DVD release MAKES it official. --Takeshi357 14:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- He got an American toy which was named Deathsaurus. Therefore Deathsaurus, regardless of that name's origin, is the character's official American name. If that is not a reasonable interpretation of his Japanese name, then that means he has a different name in Japan than in America, which is not a rare occurrence in Transformers. We use American names when they are available. Therefore this page is Deathsaurus. --Andrusi 15:19, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- But as far as I know, the BotCon toy ISN'T the same character. Either way, I'm not going to use it. --Takeshi357 20:07, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- As far as anyone else knows, he's the same guy. Call him what you want on your own time, but on the Wiki, he's Deathsaurus. --ItsWalky 01:18, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- You can call him "Steve", if that tickles your fancy. But for the purposes of this wiki, his name is Deathsaurus. - RolonBolon 00:40, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- If I ever need somebody to retcon two toys that are clearly intended to represent the same character into being different characters just so I can call them by slightly different names, I'll let you know. Until then, he's Deathsaurus. --Andrusi 14:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

- Personally I think "Deathsaurus" sounds pretty stupid for an all-powerful Decepticon emperor. Unfortunately, I wasn't asked, so Deathsaurus it is. - Dark T Zeratul 03:25, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- It works out because Deathsaurus himself is pretty laughable. "Soft spot for children"? Ooookay. --ItsWalky 03:29, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

- Would it destroy the world if I make the point that he will be appearing as "Deszaras" on the upcoming Victory DVD set? - Chris McFeely 20:38, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- No. American names dominate, and we got one at Botcon. Unless some future publication uses thsi wacky American spelling, we can keep it as is, and just make a redirect. -Derik 21:45, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Oop, forgot to mention in my edits, that text is from the article I wrote for the character at Wikipedia. - Chris McFeely 00:17, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
In case anyone is wondering, I changed the contrast of the image and cleaned it a bit, so it looks less washed-out and blurry. --M Sipher 21:20, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
We totally need redirects at "Deaths 'R' Us", "Debt Source", and "Death's Arse". --Andrusi 20:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- I was only half serious, but hey. --Andrusi 00:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Could someone scan the Botcon pin? I don't think I've ever seen it. --216.224.121.141 03:19, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
SCF
[edit]Wasn't there a version with his scimitar? --M Sipher 21:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- Don't think so. Just normal and the No Tigerbreast chase. -LV 03:16, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Let's see what you can see...
[edit]Do you think we can remove the "in need of images" tag? This thing is full of pictures! --Starcrunch 17:57, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm the one who put that tag there, and the reason for that is that there's no pictures of Deathsaurus in beast mode, nor any of his original toy. --TVsGrady 19:28, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh... I forgot to read the fine print of the tag (apparently so did whoever stuffed this thing full of pictures) --Starcrunch 13:26, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

"Chicken"?
[edit]The writeup for his original toy says he "looks like nothing so much as a giant mutant space chicken." A little further down, one of the notes similarly says that "he is often called a dragon, but is probably really a kaiju." Uh, where did this come from? How is he not a dragon? His beast mode is almost exactly a one-headed Doublecross. Has Doublecross' dragonity ever been in doubt? --Thylacine 2000 23:36, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
- I figure Doublecross doesn't have a yellow beak to accentuate bird-ness. Deszaras's altmode arguably looks like a dragon, but more in the sense of "monsterfied animal" than "traditional dragon". Geewunling 03:27, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- And hey, Dezzy's original bio card said he turned into a "big bird". - Chris McFeely 04:42, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
- Having just last night seen for the first time actual animation clips from Victory that depicted Deathy's beast mode, I concede the point. They turned the toy's steam-shovel skull and wedge-shaped feet into a vertically-compressed bill and, well, three-toed yellow chicken feet. Especially the feet. What the hell, Takara 20 years ago. What the hell. --Thylacine 2000 19:03, 14 June 2011 (EDT)
- Think of it like this: At least a chicken-dragon altmode is original. Geewunling 01:22, 15 June 2011 (EDT)
- Re the "bio card 'big bird'" note above - the box flap blurb says "dragon." Nyeah! Am adding a bit of context. --Thylacine 2000 23:25, 5 September 2011 (EDT)

English name
[edit]This is represented in English on his toy packaging and tech specs as "Deszaras."
No it isn't. I checked photos of several copies of his packaging online, and none of them had his name spelled in English, only in katakana.
What I did find was a photo of the packaging for the Kabaya "Transformers gum" version that features the "Deszaras" spelling in English.--Nevermore (talk) 06:08, 20 May 2021 (EDT)
- Victory toys feature additional bio cards printed on the inside flaps of their box. That's where you'll find the Deszaras spelling. - Chris McFeely (talk) 07:25, 20 May 2021 (EDT)
Haslab bio
[edit]So regarding the other 2 micros, they have a bio about Deathsaurus capturing them and whatnot. Should that be counted as bio info?--Poliwag06 (talk) 19:34, 13 December 2022 (EST)
