Near Lake Erie?

[edit]

Not to nitpick geography or anything, but while Detroit is relatively near Lake Erie, the lake isn't adjacent to the city itself. Wouldn't it have made more sense for the Ark to have landed in Lake St. Clair? (the little piddly lake betweeen Lakes Erie and Huron, where Detroit is situated) --Nightshade83 03:39, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

You're right, of course. My mistake -- I was thrown off by that sign in the preview. And heck, nitpicking's what we're all about!
Speaking of that sign... we could really use a shot that actually shows the CITY instead of a cow pasture. -- Repowers 03:50, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't think you're the one that's off, Repowers. I think the Ark did end up in Lake Erie. With that sign, it has to be the animators themselves who suck at geography. --Nightshade83 03:58, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I just watched that sequence again. It doesn't quite make sense with real-world geography, but the ship did indeed pass over downtown Detroit and land in Lake Erie. Ah well! I suppose this means Sumdac's factory is in the city's southern reaches, since it's near their landing point. -- Repowers 04:01, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
You forget; it's the future!
Clearly in the future Detroit has sprawled to the point that it approaches Lake Eerie! -Derik 06:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
That's possible, but the thought is rather scary, when you consider what Detroit's like now. It's a hole! No offence to anyone here who lives in Detroit -- I'm just going off what my bf told me when he visited it. (It's only about 2 hours away from where I live in Ontario) Hopefully Sundac's "Robotic Revolution" included cleaning up that place. --Nightshade83 17:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Note the police dispatch call received by Fanzone, though. It specifically mentions that Sumdac Labs is in Monroe, which is south of Detroit proper and does indeed front on Lake Erie. This is backed up by the map shown in "Nanosec", depicting Sumdac Tower as being in the middle of Detroit and Sumdac Labs south-southwest of it right by the docks in Monroe. It's not much of a stretch to think that, with the success and revival brought to Detroit by Sumdac Industries, it has expanded to absorb Monroe as a suburb—assuming Monroe isn't already considered such.--Apcog 02:37, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Does this deserve its own article? It's in Animated and the Movie. Also, it's getting torn down. Ah, the follies of using the Future as a setting,
