Talk:Doctor Fujiyama the Famous Scientist
...shouldn't this have a (G1) suffix? -Derik 04:56, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
No humans do. --ItsWalky 05:11, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Thinking about it, should this be moved to Fujiama, rather than being Fujiyama? I realize that it's not an actual word, but then neither is "Devcon"... --Monzo 13:48, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- No, as explained in the channel, because "Fujiama" never made it to written fiction. --ItsWalky 14:39, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Does he actually count as a "cartoon only" character if he was in the 3H comics?Jyuu 10:23, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- No. That category shouldn't be there. --ItsWalky 14:24, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
Train Wars
[edit]Gotta be honest, I'm really not a fan of us pushing down the AVP section below the Train Wars section. I know we did it for Kiloton because McFeely wrote that one and while I'm not big on that, whatever, but it feels disingenuous for us to act like it's lesser when we know Ichikawa did work for the Trainbots answers. Escargon (talk) 08:03, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
- It is lesser. Like, much as we all love it, AVP is a Facebook column. It is basically as minor in significance as it's possible for any piece of Transformers fiction to be, and I don't think it being worked on by a Japanese creator changes that. --Riptide (talk) 11:17, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
- Well what are we going to do if Ohshima or Sakamoto ever tries something with Air Attack Optimus Primal that directly contradicts what Ichikawa did on AVP? I’m not so persuaded by idea of “relevance” when it comes to these JG1 things that are also random minor bits of fiction. Escargon (talk) 11:27, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
- Ichikawa isnt the only contributor to the Japanese lore, AVP is a Western idea and only readable in English, from what i'm aware.. what Ichikawa wrote during that time was never approved by Takara or any other authors who were working on the current JG1 mangas in a first place, if whatever new random of lore doesn't match AVP, let's put it aside since it was never in Takara's plans-MahXyme/MahXymal (talk) 11:53, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
- Takara doesn't have any plans! All the JG1 stuff is down to whatever writer or artist at the time doing what they want, and half the time it contradicts what others have done until someone comes in to explain it after the fact. Escargon (talk) 11:59, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
- I think you really need to stop insisting something you personally worked on is relevant to a Japanese audience despite it never being accessible to them. Those "random minor bits of fiction" are what other JG1 creators are going to build on and incorporate into the continuity because it's actually made in their language and easily available to them. Therefore it's going to be more important in the long run—it's their continuity, not ours. It doesn't matter if Ichikawa worked on the AVP answer because he's not the sole arbiter of JG1 and should have probably made this stuff available in official Japanese material if he really cared that much.
- As to your specific hypothetical, it's unlikely that creators will touch Binaltech that much, since it's a self-contained story by Ichikawa. But you can't expect them to care that some obscure Facebook post for Americans tried to make lore for major characters for the Trainbots. Saix (talk) 12:05, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
- Not that invested in this particular instance so alright. Escargon (talk) 12:33, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
- Actually, wait, hold on a fucking second, the comic already contradicts something that was actually published in Japanese! Shouki's Generations toy bio both A: claims he was made at the start of the 21st century and B: was made by Shibuya Manufacturing Corporation, not Fujiyama. Escargon (talk) 19:57, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
