Was it anything before it was a Transformers licensed set?

I remember this definitely, as a friend had it. However, a lot of it smacks of having had a product life before being brought to the US as a licensed Transformers toy. So what was it? Because that'd be a great detail for the article.--Rosicrucian^Talk 02:47, 23 November 2010 (EST)

Not all the ones we use match the ones on the front of the box:
