IDW Gaea

[edit]

In the Beast Wars Omnibus description of Gaea, I get the impression that it's not meant to be future Earth, but some other world altogether. Is this the case, at least for the version of the world seen in the IDW Beast-era timeline? --Nerroth 22:59, 13 March 2010 (EST)

No need for Gaea (Classics) as a separate article

[edit]

Classics Gaea is also Earth. I realize there's some awkwardness with describing both a planet and a character, but somehow we managed with other planetformers. I can't imagine this wasn't Jesse and Pete's intent in Another Light.--RosicrucianTalk 19:41, 30 December 2015 (EST)

Nnnnah, unless we merge Gaea and Earth, I don't think this works. Gaea isn't the robot mode of Gaea, she's the robot mode of Earth. Also, the only other planetformers IIRC are Primus (separate article from Cybertron) and Unicron, who's a character even in planet mode. --Riptide (talk) 19:49, 30 December 2015 (EST)
I don't think "future version of Earth" and "robot hidden inside one particular Earth" are really compatible concepts. They just happen to have the same name derived from a common source. (And there's IDW Gaea and Animated Gaia, which exist as separate planets to Earth.) Saix (talk) 20:18, 30 December 2015 (EST)

Proposal

[edit]

Ignore the dumb "Gaea" spelling from the Sourcebook and move this to "Gaia". Saix (talk) 16:09, 25 July 2017 (EDT)

I'm down. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 16:25, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
We ignored the dumb "Beest" spelling from Dreamwave for planet Beast, so it's not like we haven't ditched that sort of stuff in the past. --DrSpengler (talk) 17:12, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
And we ignore "Cyber Beast" in favor of the original "Cyborg Beast". Though, in addition to the "Gaia" proposal, I'd also suggest ignoring "Elephorca", "Blendtron", and maybe "Autocrasher" in favor of the original "Elphaorpha", "Blentron", and maybe "Autocrusher". I'm neutral towards "Cohrada vs. Colada", though. HasbroCollectors.com used "Cohrada" back in the day, but they also used "Lioconvoy" as one word, so *shrug*. --Sabrblade (talk) 17:31, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
Or for a more radical idea (which I'm not endorsing, but simply mentioning for the sake of it), since IDW BW Gaea is explicitly not Earth, split out the IDW planet as a separate "Gaea" article while "Gaia" stays as Japanese-original Future Earth of BWII and Neo, with a note on the IDW "Gaea" planet's article denoting how that planet was based directly on the Japanese "Gaia" planet. --Sabrblade (talk) 17:46, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
Can we please keep the discussion on topic (i.e. discussing the renaming of this article) and put any other suggestions in their own thread? Suggesting a bunch of other unrelated changes just bogs down the discussion. --abates (talk) 18:20, 25 July 2017 (EDT)
