Talk:Maggie Madsen
I don't think she's ever actually called "Margaret" by anyone, so no, this shouldn't be moved. --KilMichaelMcC 20:26, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, seriously. As far as we're aware, her given name is just "Maggie". -Rotty 20:29, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Okie-day, I assumed her full name was from some source I wasn't aware of.
- Someone needs to note she's called 'Maggie Marconi' in the storybook though. (Whose differences from the movie I'm currently cataloging.)
- Also, she's not good friends with Glen for no reason- they work together at the Rand corporation. (He might be an outside consultant or something.) She was heading in to work at Rand in the (mercifully) cut hacking-streetlights-in-a-cab scene when the DOD people grabbed her for the pentagon thing. (The junior novel fleshed out how they knew one another instead of dwellign on the racially uncomfortable nature of Glen's home.) I'm not sure if they're actual co-workers, or if he's consulted for Rand or what- but that's how she knows him. -Derik 20:39, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Is this the same storybook where Glen is a white dude with a much older looking computer? --FFN 20:53, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Nope, that's the Storybook. I'm talking about the Junior Novel. -Derik 21:12, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Along the lines of the Maggie/Margaret discussion above, I kind of dislike that all the movie characters' articles have been put at the most long, formal-sounding version of their names people can come up with rather than names that were actually given to us in, for example, the movie's credits. For example, Judy Witwicky is now referred to as Judith "Judy" Witwicky, seemingly just on the basis of supposition. I know the help files say that humans should be referred to by their full names, but it also says "if known". --Steve-o 18:49, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- I know I've changed a couple named like this- but I've been careful to do it only when someone's full name is actually known. Some kids are just named 'Sam,' after all, not short for anything.
- Unfortunately I don't think all editors are applying that level of rigor to the decision, and are apign the end-style without realizing the long names are verified. :p -Derik 01:23, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Should we add a comment saying she's a corporate shill for Panasonic or that she recommends Panasonic SD cards? --FFN 05:35, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Nationality
[edit]Does either of the novelizations establish that Maggie is Australian, or otherwise provide an explanation for her accent, or is that issue left untouched the way it is in the movie itself?--TVsGrady 19:53, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- sounds british to me. American Girl 17:33, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Nah, definitely Aussie or New Zealand accent. My family is British, so I know a British accent when I hear one. However, I don't know if the accent is Aussie or Kiwi. I think only people from Australia and New Zealand can tell the difference very well. Semysane 17:39, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
What is her Education?
[edit]My friend and I are having an argument about whether she is from high school or college. He thinks that she is from High School as one of the officers says "NSA's recruiting right out of High School these days". Where as I think that this is to put emphasis how young they are, and that they are actually from university with a degree in a computer associated program. Is she university/college or just High School educated?

- The article directly states that she put herself through college by modeling.--RosicrucianTalk 19:22, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
