Talk:Michael Bay
I put back in my FUNNY based on the BC06 promo reel. It is not "vandalism." KILL BAY NOW is vandalism, and this article has seen plenty of it, and obviously will have to continue to be watched until the hater cult goes back to masturbating. --Thylacine 2000 13:04, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think a more substantial article would disuade most vandals. It's a psychological
effect. For something so short people feel like they're not damaging something with much value. -Derik 19:12, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, a more substational article about the reasons for killing Bay would probably be a good compromise.
- Erm... yeah. Because a movie you don't like is worth threatening somebody's life over, right? Riiiight... --FFN 21:17, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well...I'm absolutely distrubed. -- SFH 21:19, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Evidently there's no law against threatening somebody on the internet like there is in Real Life. This is just another reason why I think the Internet License Test and the Internet Police should be established. The Internet Police patrol the Knowledge Mega Autobahn. --FFN 21:28, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm. Perhaps my suggestion was not the bridge-building compromise I thought it was.
- Credible threats are illegal -- in the US at least -- regardless of how they are made. The "threat" above is obviously not credible. --Steve-o 22:26, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- You ain't seen the movie board people firing their AK-47s wildly into the air ;) --FFN 14:05, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Are you guys kidding? This article isn't nearly mean enough.
- No, we're not kidding. And sign your posts. -- Semysane 04:49, 15 July 2010 (EDT)
Subtle Hint ?
[edit]Did anyone notice that in the console version of Transformers: The Game, in the suburbs, there is an area marked BAY DEMOLITION. Is it possible this is a Bay death threat (demolish bay)?--Autobotx1010 22:18, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- ...
- He makes movies with explosions. Big explosions. Big sets, big cars, set-piece action sequences. ...which are completely demolished by the end. It's what he's known for. -Derik 22:23, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
I know it hasn't been unmanageable so far, but it seems this is the page to most frequently have highschool level hinkjinkery inserted in it (hur hur insert). While usually this wiki is at least community-college level hijinkery. So maybe, and this is a big maybe, it would make sense to lock it for a while? I don't know, just tossing the idea out there.--Zodberg 13:01, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- We should just restrict editing it to registered members. Most trolls don't bother to register an account. --FFN 13:30, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
"Disgusting"
[edit]Speaking of Bay getting killed, his page is a good spot for the trivia that he's the human Megatron flicks in the movie?
- I think Bay was joking there, considering the "human" in question is likely a CGI puppet. It's worth noting Bay makes the claim, but should also note the likelyhood of him being facetious. --M Sipher 13:52, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- IIRC, that's in reference to an entirely different scene Bay was going to be in, one that was filmed but didn't make the final cut. He was in a car that Megs was supposed to pick up and fling away or something. There's a making-of bit about it on the DVD extras disc, with him and a woman in this car as it's lifted into the air by a crane. Unless this reference is part of the DVD commentaries or something, which I never made it all the way through... -- Repowers 14:45, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- That's different. He cut the SUV sequence, but on the commentary he claimed to be the guy Megatron flicked away in disgust. --FFN 17:19, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

TF2 HD-DVD/BluRay joke
[edit]Is that still relevant, given that we know he's definately directing the sequel? --FFN 21:35, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe move it to trivia and put in past tense.--Carrion 22:20, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Animated GIF
[edit]This is one of the few places on the wiki where I heartily endorse the use of an animated gif, specifically Bay blowing up something with his Awesome Button. -hx 20:11, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- DEAR WIKI - Please consider the following file for use as Michael Bay's primary image. [1]
- Followup: Eventual caption: "The Michael Bay Curse: Everything he touches turns to AWESOME." Hooper_X 10:42, 9 June 2009 (EDT)
- How about "If it explodes, 'Devastator'. If not, 'Brawl'."--Thylacine 2000 10:53, 9 June 2009 (EDT)

Nelson at Michael's site puts it as Koujin Ohno is the one who presented Bay the Optimus Prime trophy. Yet digging around the Japanese sites, I find the names 佐藤安太氏 and Yasuta Satō used instead, which is driving me nuts. Thailand-based Modxtoy has the latest Hyper Hobby August '09 scans and if you look at the bottom covering the Japan/world premiere, it's 佐藤安太氏. Unless 氏 is an honorific of sorts... --Lonegamer78 08:13, 6 July 2009 (EDT)
- It is. 氏 (-shi) is an honorific specifically for males, and so essentially means "Mr." (The equivalent for females is 娘 (jō).)
- ...hunh. For some reason, on this computer, the macron-o's show up in italics for edit summaries on the "Recent Changes" list and as blank spaces on standard article pages, even though they show up just fine in the edit window.--Apcog 14:27, 6 July 2009 (EDT)
- Wow... Really top man to get that attached to his name. Kinda like knighting him, huh?
- Other than name translation, I'm asking on the whole "top man in Takara" - is it Kojin, or is it Yasuta? Yasuta has a profile at the Japan Toy Culture Foundation. --Lonegamer78 14:51, 6 July 2009 (EDT)
- I actually see the suffix used quite a bit in magazine articles. It's not a title like "Sir" in Great Britain, it's just a respectful suffix—again, like using "Mr." before a name in English. I believe it's no more formal or polite than "-san".
- As for who's TakaraTomy's top dog, I'm not sure, and don't have the time right now to confirm. I'll see if I can look into it later, but you may find out before I get a chance.--Apcog 15:17, 6 July 2009 (EDT)
- Ah, that makes sense. Looking through TakaraTomy's corporate site on the higher-ups, I'm not seeing him. Although I could be looking in the wrong place.... << >> --Lonegamer78 16:16, 6 July 2009 (EDT)
- Searching for Satō-san's name on TakaraTomy's site, I found their corporate history. According to that, he founded Satō Vinyl Industries, Ltd., which would later become Takara, on September 17, 1955, and he assumed the office of Representative Director Chairman and Company President in July 1999. I'd say he's the big man there right now.--Apcog 21:35, 6 July 2009 (EDT)
- Top man. Gonna need to set up an article for both of these two later on.
- Nelson, Nelson... *shakes head* --Lonegamer78 12:52, 7 July 2009 (EDT)
- Checking your link, Nelson says Mr. Ōno "is credited with inventing Transformers as we now know them," and considering his history as the designer of many of the Diaclone toys, that's arguably true. However, that's not the same as saying he's the head man at TakaraTomy. This link merely states Mr. Yasuta thanked Bay for making the movie version of TFs. This link says similar, elaborating a bit by directly quoting Mr. Yasuta. However, this link credits Mr. Yasuta with presenting the "monument" to Bay. It and the previous article also credit him with developing Transformers, despite Mr. Ōno's design credits. If Mr. Ōno had actually presented the award, you'd think one of the Japanese articles would have mentioned him, but only Mr. Yasuta's name comes up.--Apcog 14:13, 7 July 2009 (EDT)
- Yare yare... Well, at least that clears up my confusion. XD --Lonegamer78 02:16, 9 July 2009 (EDT)

Quotes glitch?
[edit]The Michael_Bay#Quotes section says (among other things) “Explosions as entertainment. I'll never understand you humans.”—Blades, "Rescue Boy"
So why is it that when i use Ctrl+F ("Find on this page" under the "Edit" menu) and search for "humans" or "Blades", Internet Explorer says "No matches found"? and when i search for "Explosions", i only get 2 matches (the last line before the table of contents, and the Note that "The cat was not blown up (which was fortunate), but all three explosions were AWESOME")?
Also, when i click and drag anywhere in the Quotes section, none of the text gets highlighted, like the text is protected from Ctrl+C copying. So far as i can tell, any of the rest of the article will allow itself to be searched and/or highlighted.
Another article selected at random does not have this kind of problem; Ctrl+F successfully finds search terms which only appear in the Quotes section ("merry", "robotoid", "brain"), and any/all of the Quotes section (or the rest of the article for that matter) seems to easily accept highlighting in prepartion for Ctrl+C use.
This is not a big problem, but it's weird enough that i worry if it's a symptom of some larger concern. i just don't know enough about computers/programming to investigate it myself.
--Rhymus (talk) 02:31, 6 January 2014 (EST)
- I'm not experiencing any problems like that in Firefox or Internet Explorer. does the same thing happen on the quote at the top of Optimus Prime (WFC)? --abates (talk) 04:30, 6 January 2014 (EST)
- i seem to be able to highlight, search, copy, and paste from that article, including the quote you mentioned:
will wage our battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons wherever it may take us. And one day, we will go home.
”
—Optimus Prime, Exodus
- Having copied and pasted that here, however, i can not use the arrow keys to move around this text-editing window; i can use the left and right arrow keys to move back and forth on the line "—Optimus Prime, Exodus", but if i reach either end (say, the O in Optimus and using the left arrow key several times), the cursor will wind up skipping back to the other end and keep going (to the s, u, d in Exodus). The up and down arrows won't leave that line either.
- The Michael Bay article is still treating me as described previously.
