Talk:Micromaster Combiner
The connection points between the pairings are wired such that any combiner can join with any other, regardless of what end of the vehicle they form.
It's true of the toys, but has it ever been shown in the fiction? MTMTE explicitly says otherwise, stating that front-end guys can join with any back-end guy or vice-versa. -- Repowers 17:15, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
- It was shown in a commercial, that's a form of fiction. --Jimsorenson 17:19, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
- Yeah, in fact it's happening in the screencap right there. But I do think it's worth noting the implied limitation in the DW continuity... in fact, that whole section could use an expansion with MTMTE-bio info. The current wording makes it sound like only one Combiner even existed in that universe. - Jackpot 17:21, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
2 or more robots combine into 1 alternate mode
[edit]- The two-robots-in-one-vehicle concept would not be revisited in toy form until 2006, with the introduction of Han Solo and Chewbacca's combining vehicle mode. Three years later, Revenge of the Fallen line would see Skids and Mudflap's combined ice cream truck form. The otherwise unfortunate Tri-Rex also features a similar combination gimmick, albeit with three separate figures combining to create one alternate mode.
My brain is glitching on this blurb in the Notes section. Is the point that combiners rarely have a gestalt form which isn't a robot (should we mention Reflector (G1) and Reflector (Animated) here?) or is the point that a long time passed between G1's two-robots-in-one-altmode and the next? or an even longer time between G1's two-robots-in-one-vehicle and the next? That's assuming there weren't other two-robots-in-one-whatevers that i'm not remembering right now and don't have the motivation to double-check. Someone want to check that? i might get back to it later, but i didn't want to delete/edit that part of the Notes section without seeing if i'm missing the point.
