Japanese Variants

[edit]

Haven't the faintest. I never kept up on variations details. This is more of a question for Harold Tietjens or Fred of Fred's Workshop.--Apcog 08:20, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Formatting

[edit]

I was just wondering if the rest of the page (aside from the basic profile) would work better in the toy sections factoid format. I mean, it might give the page a little more visual interest. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chiasaur11 (talkcontribs) 00:28, 20 September 2008.

Since Rewind's one of my fave characters, I gave it a go myself. What do you think? Not exactly the same, but I thought this would be a little less repetitive-looking while still keeping the "factoid" vibe. --Jeysie 16:23, 20 September 2008 (EDT)
I like the idea of trivia listing, but I think we may want to keep it out of the fiction sections and restrict it to the intro, toy, and trivia sections. We don't want to be writing stuff Out of Universe. --SFH 16:55, 20 September 2008 (EDT)
Admittedly, Rewind's factoid style doesn't lend itself as well to being properly in-universe the way something like Wheelie's rhyming does. :> Any ideas for a compromise? I kind of like the idea of his article being somehow idiosyncratic, since he's otherwise one of the more obscure, hard-to-remember charcaters... --Jeysie 17:08, 20 September 2008 (EDT)
Did you know that I like this very much and think it is totally awesome in the new "trivia" format? A-OK! -Autobus Prime 09:46, 28 October 2008 (EDT)
I, too, greatly enjoy this article's current format. --FFN 09:56, 28 October 2008 (EDT)

I theeeenk our format for this article might be working against us now that Rewind's actually regularly doing stuff for the first time. - Chris McFeely 16:18, 29 July 2012 (EDT)

Was thinking the same. Maybe take the fiction section out of formatting, leave the rest.--66.159.179.8 18:26, 29 July 2012 (EDT)

Yeah, this section sure was going to keep getting longer. --ItsWalky 01:10, 2 April 2013 (EDT)

Main pic

[edit]

As FFN points out, he's kinda in the wrong colors here. I'd just as soon see one of the cartoon screencaps used as his main pic; they show more personality, and we've become far too reliant on MTMTE, TFU, and box art for main pics in general. --Repowers 10:20, 29 September 2008 (EDT)

Walky says it's old timey comic book colours where blue represents black... for the purposes of this wiki it looks like a mistake. --FFN 12:43, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
It really does, IMO, even though I'm well-conditioned to read that blue-for-black substitution the way it was intended. How about that screencap of him pointing at the ancient symbols? That's utterly perfect -- sums up the character to a T. --Repowers 12:50, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, since that's my screenshot. I generally prefer full-body shots whenever possible but they are hard to come by for this guy. --FFN 12:55, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
We do have a semi-terrible Dreamwave MTMTE profile pic down below in the DW section... one that should be replaced by one of him in actual fiction. Either we move it up or we should delete it and get a better image for the section. --ItsWalky 14:13, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
We should delete that MTMTE pic. --M Sipher 14:35, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
I was going to offer this for the page, until I realized it was Eject. (Rewind is in fact too near the page crease to be of any use.) --Monzo 14:37, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
I'd favor that over Eject's current pic.
And, screw it. Per my comments here and on the Community Portal, I'm making the change for Rewind. --Repowers 15:30, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
*looks a bit sheepish* Sorry about that... basically, when I went to reformat the page into factoid-style, I decided I ought to fix the fact that the main pic actually was non-existent/redlinked at the time as well... and grabbed the first appropriate-seeming image I could think of so I could just concentrate on the article itself. It completely never occurred to me to just repurpose/move one of the existing pics (cause I agree that that entire scene is pretty much quintessential Rewind). So, er, eheh. --Jeysie 18:06, 29 September 2008 (EDT)

Trivia format vs. IDW stories

[edit]

The trivia note format is cute, but... I kinda feel like it's undermining the actual info when it comes to the IDW section. Rewind's been a major player for quite a few issues, and we're not really doing him justice right now. Sure, we could expand, but after a while it's gonna get unwieldy. I'd favor having a regular-text expansion after the trivia notes:

*Got golden discs from Swindle just before leaving with Rodimus's crew in the Lost Light?
It's true! Swindle was a bit surprised to find out that a "nice little Autobot" like Rewind was into such things, but Rewind's interest was not personal. Nor professional.

...or something. I dunno. -- Repowers 23:26, 30 October 2012 (EDT)

Yeah, if I'd known he was going to become a main character again, I don't think I would have reformatted this the way I did, as it's only cute in small doses. Your idea might be a good compromise. --Jeysie 20:09, 27 January 2013 (EST)
Was just thinking about this again the other day. Like Rob says, he's just not being done justice - I don't think any bending of the cute format will allow for sufficient relation of the detail we get out of MTMTE. But it'd look weird if only his IDW section wasn't written out in full prose, so I think we really do need to overhaul the whole page to relegate the trivia note format to the opening, the toys and the notes (and honestly? Maybe not even the toys). - Chris McFeely 20:18, 27 January 2013 (EST)

Did You Know that Rewind in the IDW Generation 1 continuity...

  • Has appeared so frequently, we can't keep this gag running anymore?
  • No, really...it's exhausting.

Mandarin name (China)

[edit]

Rewind is translated to "Clockwork Spring" since "A clockwork spring need to be winded-up." However, I don't know how to make a change to make it suitable to the page's tone, perhaps just adding "because it need to be winded up"?. --TX55TALK 16:00, 21 November 2013 (EST)

Formatting 2: Electric Boogaloo

[edit]

Alright, so, it's been 3 years since MTMTE started and Rewind's actually done stuff. I'm starting to think that since Rewind's IDW section is entirely normal prose, the rest of the article could probably stand to change, like how McFeely says. Maybe keep the opening. Any thoughts?
