Not funny man. I hate jokes for jokes sake on the wiki, especially linking from purely fact-based articles. --FFN 09:48, 18 April 2009 (EDT)

Eh? He's an officially confirmed character. Alientraveller 10:25, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
Er, yeah, what Alientraveller said. Well, I mean in that, "The Doctor/Scalpel" is an official character, though I don't know if there's an official source for his info yet. Why did you think this was a joke? --Jeysie 10:40, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
The existence of a 'con called "The Doctor" was confirmed a ways back. I don't remember if any picture was ever officially attached to that name. The real problem is that since we know nothing about this character, all the cutesy "jokes" in the article are just confusing and should go. --Thylacine 2000 11:02, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
http://www.sfx.co.uk/page/sfx?entry=transformers_revenge_of_the_fallen --ItsWalky 11:07, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
Considering that I've been updating the ROTF page for the past few months, yes, I know where it was reported and when. However, I am leery about having this article around *at all* considering how it's a term coming from the writers and Paramount, two sources who are not exactly the most reliable when it comes to the names of Transformers movie characters (even the writers have admitted that they refer to some characters via descriptors than any official name). Orci didn't know the Chevy Volt was named Jolt until reading it on TFW2005. I mean, they've created extra confusion the whole Demolishor & Scavenger thing (with added Overload) and whether one is a Constructicon or not. --FFN 14:43, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
It's not as if moving this to "Scalpel" is going to be a difficult task when the time comes. —Interrobang 14:49, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
Why would we move it to Scalpel? We tend to rank fiction names above toy names. (See Beast Changer/Noble.) --ItsWalky 16:43, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
Well, presumably Interrobang's operating on the likelihood that he's going to be called Scalpel in the film, and "the Doctor" is just a placeholder name. If he is "The Doctor" in the film, that's another story. - Chris McFeely 16:47, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
Doctor/Scalpel really sounds like Hasbro couldn't possibly try to trademark "The Doctor," so they borrowed a doctory G.I. Joe name they already owned. --ItsWalky 16:49, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
If we're going by what the movie says, then why isn't Brawl (Movie) at "Devastator (Movie)"? —Interrobang 18:52, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
Because he is Brawl, the movie just got it wrong? Fergods sake-- we're getting a second unrelated Devastator in ROTF. -Derik 12:40, 19 April 2009 (EDT)
And yet the movie, by definition, *can't* get it wrong unless it contradicts *itself*. It's the core around which all of the tie-in stuff revolves (and some of the tie-in fiction *does* use "Devastator"). Moreover, the RotF Devastator is at Devastator (ROTF), not "Devastator (Movie)" (which currently redirects tot the Brawl page), yes? - SanityOrMadness 13:08, 7 May 2009 (EDT)
The Movie isn't "wrong" in calling him Devastator. Devastator is just his name in the Transformers (film) micro-continuity! :) Seriously, you are more Bay-centric than I am. "Brawl" is simply more prominent with "Devastator" being a canonical alternate. As for the Scalpel toy, we don't officially know about it. It is impossible to guess at this point whether "The Doctor" or "Scalpel" will be more prominent. - Starfield 13:25, 7 May 2009 (EDT)
Given the number of people who buy toys vs. the number of people who saw the movie, anything OTHER than the movie is "micro-continuity" stuff - the MAJOR fiction can't be a micro-continuity. More eyeballs have seen "Devastator" than saw "Brawl" in connection with the tank, simple as that.
The same deal would be the case with, say, the Transformers Animated cartoon - if something from the toys, or the club magazine, or even the Titan comic contradicted the cartoon, I would as firm that "the cartoon is always right" (even if it was a background item in the cartoon vs. a major item in the other thing).
Hell, the disambiguator is MOVIE. Not "Movie tie-in toy" nor "Movie tie-in book". - SanityOrMadness 16:38, 7 May 2009 (EDT)
As for Scalpel... AFAIK, the only official releases we had for the character were as "The Doctor," we know that's not right/final, but he needed to be added to the cast list anyway since he'd been announced. -Derik 12:40, 19 April 2009 (EDT)
What happened to our preference of not bothering to create pages if we don't actually have any information? --FFN 15:26, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
The Paramount release is official information (even if of suspect reliability). He also appears in official movie clip releases. - Starfield 15:30, 18 April 2009 (EDT)
Is an image and a name not information? Hell, we'd better start deleting Animated cameo pages, then. --ItsWalky 13:28, 7 May 2009 (EDT)

Animated!

[edit]

I know it's technically fanart, but it's Derrick Wyatt fanart, dagnabbit!! --Detour 02:24, 13 July 2009 (EDT)

If it makes you feel any better, it probably won't be just fanart forever .... --Jimsorenson 20:55, 13 July 2009 (EDT)
*collapses* --Detour 21:00, 13 July 2009 (EDT)
Actually with Animated (At least the show) cancelled, he probably will be fanart forever. Crystal lucario
Well actually, Jim is kind of an awesome inside source on this sort of thing.--RosicrucianTalk 14:06, 14 July 2009 (EDT)

Locked?

[edit]

Why is this page still locked? That bit at the bottom has really got to go, this wiki should try to refrain from political statements like that.24.192.196.242 20:29, 13 July 2009 (EDT)

So we should remove the Skids (Movie)/Mudflap (Movie) racism claims too? Not likely. Crystal lucario
I think he meant what I had originally put there "*He's kind off a bit of a Nazi scientist-like stereotype with his German accent and multiple monocles over his eyes and murderous personality. Yet Mudflap and Skids get all the slack for being racist stereotypes- guess racism against Germans is OK." Dead Metal 15:10, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
Nazis aren't a race-- not even a Master one. Note Hitler's brown hair and brown eyes. -Derik 18:46, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
It was meant to be funny and Hitler was a homosexual Austrian so he was like one of the things he wanted to rid the world off. Dead Metal 02:48, 15 July 2009 (EDT)

More Informations

[edit]

Well the site is locked so I would like to note: The german Voiceactor for Scalpel is Santiago Ziesmer, who previously voiced Bumblebee on Transformers Animated.Hudemx 18:07, 14 July 2009 (EDT)

Did he have a German accent? - Starfield 18:09, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
Apcog locked it in April to stop people adding spoilers prior to the movie coming out. I've unlocked it now. --abates 18:14, 14 July 2009 (EDT)
Sorry, I thought I set a timer on that lock.--Apcog 05:38, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
No he has no accent in the german Version at al!Hudemx 08:21, 15 July 2009 (EDT)

Servants

[edit]

Are there any names or information on the mindflayers and Diagnostic Drone-thing that Scalpel summons? Right now the wiki has no information at all on them.KrytenKoro 20:25, 24 July 2009 (EDT)

toy problems

[edit]

Just to make sure, i got a scalpel with a wraped strut for the binoculars(it's twisted) and the arms are atatched the wrong way, is it only mine, or are there more who have it?--Sunjumper 14:06, 12 November 2009 (EST)

Not just you - I came to this page to see if others were having the same problem. He is outrageously mistransformed out of the box, and his leg ball joints are too small for the sockets. The microscope strut also seems to have been put on the wrong way. Kookaburra 01:29, 10 June 2010 (EDT)
The microscope struct can turn, or that not the bit you meant? --abates 02:36, 10 June 2010 (EDT)
That is the bit that I meant, but I was talking about the pin hinge at the base of strut - I didn't realize just HOW mistransformed he was out of the box - he was essentially wearing his body upside down and backwards and I couldn't figure out how the heck the strut was supposed to fold away. I'm going to take pictures of him and then put him back in microscope mode and NEVER TOUCH HIM AGAIN. Arrrgh.Kookaburra 16:17, 11 June 2010 (EDT)

Trivia

[edit]

"So far, this is the only scout class toy to actually appear in the film."

What about Ejector? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 147.140.233.1 (talkcontribs){{#if:12:02, December 21, 2009 (EST)| 12:02, December 21, 2009 (EST)|}}.

You are correct! - Starfield 12:09, 21 December 2009 (EST)

Alt mode confusion

[edit]

Okay, the toy write up states "His microscope mode is slightly different from the one featured in the movie" while the note section makes the claim that "while the toy turns into a dissecting microscope, the alternate mode in the film is actually a lensmeter, a device used by optometrists to check the various aspects of a prescription lens for eyeglasses." Which is it? --Khajidha 13:06, 16 June 2010 (EDT)

I'm not sure what the confusion is. His toy just doesn't turn into what he does in the movie. Probably because a lensmeter [1] makes for an even less interesting toy to a kid than a microscope.--Carrion 13:32, 16 June 2010 (EDT)
A lensmeter is more than "slightly different". The toy write up means that he is still a dissecting microscope, just a different model. I was unsure which statement needed to be changed. --Khajidha 14:10, 16 June 2010 (EDT)

Insecticon

[edit]

The audio description on the Blu-Ray calls Scalpel an Insecticon. 86.31.231.175 08:58, 26 December 2010 (EST)

The Doctor

[edit]

This should redirect to Doctor, but I can't find a disambig template that accepts three arguments without just forwarding to a disambig page. What should I do?KrytenKoro 13:06, 9 February 2013 (EST)
