Considering she's explicitly Chinese, should she be Xiao-Xiao Lee? Or would we wait on seeing her packaging (which will presumably have her name in English) before deciding that? --Monzo 06:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

The correct pinyin spelling is "Lǐ Shāo-Shāo". However if the package does have it spelled differently, I suppose that could be reason to change it. Evan1975 21:52, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Oh yeah, BTW, most of the info I'm getting comes from Takaratomy's Kiss Players site and the kanji/hanzi from the great Autobot Aichi site. Evan1975 00:14, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

I wish to compliment whoever wrote the image caption. -Derik 00:33, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

I second this compliment. --Andrusi 01:54, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

I like compliments! --DrSpengler 02:04, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Then please accept this second compliment for your second image caption. --Andrusi 01:11, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, we now know she's officially SyaoSyao. Though I've gotten used to Xiao-Xiao, I don't feel as strongly about this one as I do Marissa vs. Melissa and Autrooper vs. Autolooper/Autorooper. Does anyone have anything to say about whether we call her Syao, Xiao or Shao? --Swift 15:58, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Technically it should be ShāoShāo (proper Chinese romanization). Syao isn't right, but that's what's on the box, apparently. :( (Got a link to an image?) Evan1975 07:10, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Here ya go. www.fantofan.jp/news/mag/dengekihobby/nov2006-6.jpg (gah, didn't realize it'd embed the image originally).
--Swift 11:54, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! I took out the "-", now Shaoshao is one word. It's still correct Chinese and is closer to the package spelling. No good? Evan1975 04:11, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Boy, it beats me. The boxes remove all spaces (e.g. Hotrodimus), so it's hard to say if it's even supposed to be all one word (the radio play generally shortens it to just half). Shao Shao or Shao-Shao works fine for me, too. --Swift 12:14, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Most redirects ever

[edit]

I hate you, Japan. Interrobang 09:56, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

"Fortunately, Hot Rod stole Marissa's underwear for her during a battle with Optimus Prime." Reading about events in the KP story is so surreal. --Andrusi 16:19, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Dear Japan

[edit]

If we're going to bitch about the questionable material that comes out of Japan, shouldn't we at least direct it at the proper source, namely Takara? Our own article on Kiss Players says that even Japanese fans were disgusted with it. -- SFH 19:44, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

I agree, the way these idiots put it's like EVERYONE in japan worked on this and approved the (questionable) subject matter. Would it kill you people to actually think before you post racism that makes the fanbase look like a bunch of rednecks? (Fossilgojira 20:07, 10 May 2008 (UTC))

Would it kill you not to refer to those with differing opinions as "idiots"? Fine, you find this an emotional issue. Even so, it's a sure bet that a more civil approach will encourage people to consider your ideas rather than rejecting them out of hand as mere diatribe.--Apcog 20:53, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
We already cover the distaste for KP among Japanese fans on the main KP page. However, there is a market for this moe crap in Japan that doesn't exist here (even given that the majority of Japanese don't like it), so it's disingenuous to suggest otherwise. Most importantly however, well-adjusted people can take a damn joke. Find another battle to fight. Chip 21:30, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
I call them idiots because of thier near-sighted views, and it's not a joke, it's flat out racism. Whether or not you accept that is irrelevant; what IS important is that the offensive pressence on this page gives a newcomer the impression that this wiki is filled with nothing but xenophobic man-children that can't let go of the past and refuse to acknowledge that the franchise exists BEYOND hasbro and america. And don't pretend that moe dosen't exist in some form in america, I'm pretty sure skeletal anorexia women aren't considered normal by the majority of the country, yet you see nothing but them in newstands and advertisments. Also, if i were to write "Dear america: please stop exploiting other countries for thier oil and natural reasources, killing of your own citizens with sub-standerd health-care, and neglecting the educational needs of your youth. Love, the U.N. ", I'm pretty sure you'd be more than a little pissed. ( the above joke dose not reflect my political and patriotical views in any way or form, execpt for health-care) (Fossilgojira 22:53, 10 May 2008 (UTC))
The most ironic part of all this? I'm Canadian yet I end up taking all of this guy's abuse. --Detour 22:56, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
What do anorexic women or the United States' issues have to do with Transformers? The sheer existence of this page and various others should probably indicate that we recognize Transformers from beyond the United States. It is a picture caption. Lighten the fuck up. —Interrobang 23:02, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
You call them idiots because you invest too much emotion in dealing with this problem. The caption is not racism. Whether or not you accept that fact is irrelevant. That you believe the wiki approaches the TF franchise as not existing beyond Hasbro and America indicates your poor, reactionary judgment of the situation. In addition to the links in Interrobang's response, there are numerous articles dealing with the Japanese aspects of TF, both positive and negative. Even within articles on American material, there are obvious acknowledgments, such as the "Lost in Translation" sections for the TF: Energon episodes. Asking the Japanese writers to stop creating fiction that contains various fetishes of females, some of them appearing criminally underaged, when the material is for children's toy line and accompanying TV shows, is hardly equivalent to asking the United States to fix some of its major social and economic issues.--Apcog 23:13, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
I never said the franchise dosen't exist out side of hasbro and amreica. The meaning behind my comparasine was that a large group, be it th US gov. or takara's infrastructure, is unpradictable and there is no point in complaining about whatever disicions they make, what I'm complaining about though, is that racist morons like most of the posters in this thread are structuring the wiki so that any n00b who wallces in will come to the assumption the fans of Transformers are xenophobs that can't let any page stand without ridiculing the content( DON"T misinterpret that, you can make fun of KP until the apocolypse for all I care, but DON'T place all the blame for it on Japan as a whole, that sin belongs to Takara). And TF would never even exist without japan in the first place, so all of you are just shoving your foot in your mouth. If you want the wiki to look like it's run by 4chaners, fine.
If we wanted the wiki to look like it's run by 4channers, we wouldn't revert your whiny-ass changes. --M Sipher 00:45, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
So racism>singluar criticism. Sounds like a .chan to me.(Fossilgojira 00:55, 11 May 2008 (UTC))
I find it funny that you're not outraged by Takara's characterization of the Chinese girl as some mainland hick who's all afeared of ghosts, but a simple joke that no rational person would be offended by somehow meets your threshold of racism. You are a beautiful flower. Chip 01:06, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
You guys are making Sludge look like Computron; My entire argument is that by placing the blame (of somethimg that should never have existed in the first place) on an entire race, you risk making the wiki look like it's run by xenophobes and racist, which makes on asume that the rest of the fans must behave the samething. And can you honestly think all of japan is to blame for the ugly scar that KP has left on the franchise?
Placing blame on an entire... God, you're thick. It's a joke. J O K E. You seem to be under the impression that if a Japanese site posted a picture of Metalhawk Cosplay Guy with a note asking America to stop, we would all be deeply offended. This is not so. Chip 01:25, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
I never said they(japan) would be offended, just that a observer would get a bad impression of the fanbase. Please, "get" the sentance before you post.(Fossilgojira 01:30, 11 May 2008 (UTC))
And yet you're the one that flings insults without truly understanding... anything. I do not think you are long for this wiki.--RosicrucianTalk 01:38, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
I really couldn't careless for what youor anyone on this wiki thinks and despite your petty criticsim and I.T.G. attitude you still don't understand my point, but that's ok, if you want to make the wiki look like it's edited by .chan users, fine, this subject is dead to me and I'm leaving it to rot, anything you post here addressd to me is a moot point.(Fossilgojira 01:47, 11 May 2008 (UTC))
I fail to see why you're blaming the International Textile Group for this. Racist. Chip 01:58, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Hang on, I think I see the point he's trying to make: Whether or not HE gets the joke, he feels any other newcomers would NOT, because the joke is that poorly done. He's saying "This 'joke' doesn't read like a joke, it reads like racism, and anyone coming in here and reading it will think the whole wiki, even all of American TF fandom, is racist."
Assuming I'm correct, the problem is that his worries are not necessarily well-founded. Newcomers might not get the joke, but it could be for any number of other reasons—insufficient comprehension or senses of humor, not reading related wiki material (which readily indicates that we know fault lies with Takara and their approved writers, not all of Japan), or having excessive emotional investment in the related issues. Even if they don't get the joke, they won't necessarily assume the whole wiki or the whole fandom is that way. Heck, newcomers might not even be offended! They might comprehend our humor enough or read enough material on other wiki pages first, so the caption is in proper perspective.
Even laying that aside, FG, how you say something can be as important as what you say. Your point would've been more worth considering had you not obscured it in a morass of knee-jerk ad hominem attacks, horrendous syntax, and poor methods of argument. I'm certain the strength of overall reaction against you was enhanced by those aspects.--Apcog 02:00, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
If you don't care about what the Wiki thinks, then why you post paragraphs of whine about our supposed racist beliefs? —Interrobang 01:59, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
You don't seem to understand the concept of joking. Nobody here actually believes the entire Japaneese people is to blame for kissplay. Your inabiltiy to understand that fact makes me think you believe that Stephen Colbert is serious about his viewpoint on The Colbert Report. Second, the joke implies Japan is to blame, not the Japanese people. Forget comprhending the joke, you can't even comprehend the actual meanings of the individual words. --FortMax 01:34, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
My God, this is getting out of hand.--Dynamus Prime 03:00, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Dear America, Please Stop. Love, Germany.
--Nevermore 11:10, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
You're just racist against Michael Bay. (That scene still embarrasses me every time I see it.) -LV 14:48, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Man, that caption is great. If we aren't using it, we should. --ItsWalky 14:59, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
I thought Germany was all for the pee porn. --M Sipher 16:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh, dear God...

[edit]

...we had close to twenty spelling variants as redirects.--RosicrucianTalk 22:35, 28 April 2009 (EDT)

Oh, Interrobang is finding more. Over the line we go...--RosicrucianTalk 22:41, 28 April 2009 (EDT)
Naw, that's the last one. Took me longer than the others, since it was still being linked to. I left "Syaosyao", "Syaosyo Li", "Shaoshao", and "Li" alone. "Syaosyao Li" should stay, since it's the official spelling, but I dunno if we want the others. —Interrobang 22:43, 28 April 2009 (EDT)
I'm just boggled we had so many.--RosicrucianTalk 22:44, 28 April 2009 (EDT)
That's how it is with Chinese names. --Detour 22:59, 28 April 2009 (EDT)

Top referrer, sometimes

[edit]

[1] Whoever wrote that caption wins a prize, I think. --ItsWalky 01:39, 5 October 2009 (EDT)

I disagree, on account of the fact that according to the history, the person who added it was linking to that Wikia dump. --Detour 14:44, 5 October 2009 (EDT)
