Is the horrendously abysmal grammar in this entry a joke? Because if not, it needs some serious work to get it to anything even approaching readable. - Dark T Zeratul 10:52, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

When dd this take place?

[edit]

What is the tempral placement of this story? the woolly mammoths seem to be going extinct- but that only happened within human memory. When did Cybertron become uninhabitable? Bludgeon's tasking w/ investigating Shockwav'es projects might be seen as a direct cause of that.-Derik 00:08, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Cybertron became uninhabitable 700 years ago when Thunderwing nearly blew it up. --ItsWalky 00:51, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
That's... strange. It aligns up with the actual mammoth extinction, but there didn't seem to be any evidence of humans on Earth in the Shockwave spotlight...? -Derik 00:59, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Shockwave likely left for Earth prior to Thunderwing's almost-apocalypse, given that in Spotlight: Soundwave it implies he has been watching Bludgeon for a while by the time Cybertron is declared off-limits. - Dark T Zeratul 02:29, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
I am not sure why Derik is having trouble with the timeline. It seems pretty cut-and-dry to me. Shockwave goes missing thousands of years ago, Megatron assigns Bludgeon to look into his files and Soundwave to look after him. Seven hundred years ago the incident at Thunderwing pass occurred, kicking them off Cybertron. And then in 1984, the Soundwave Spotlight happens. --ItsWalky 13:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Mammoths went extinct around 10,000 years ago (but a small group survived until 4,000 years ago) All approximate dates, of course. --Crockalley 13:33, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. It's still odd insofar that readign the issue there seemed to be no sign of human life, which made me instinctively want to place it earlier- but 10,000 ears ago will do. -Derik 22:18, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
It's clear that the humans were just off-screen. Har har. But seriously, there were far less humans on the planet back then, so their absence as depicted in this story is actually reasonable. And humans would want to avoid dangerous volcanic areas, wouldn't they? --Crockalley

Is it just me or is the first entry rather confusing to any reader who does not know this comic is part of a new continuity unconnected to the G1 Marvel and G1 cartoon continuities? Like me, for instance. I don't have much knowledge of the G1 Marvel comic beyond what I've read on this wiki, so from reading comments such as "The million-year hibernation in the Ark and Spike's interest in dinosaurs have been removed from continuity" gives me the impression that this comic (and thus the IDW continuity) is an alternate-universe G1 cartoon continuity.

Then there's the line "Slag's creative solution to the Energon radiation problem (which also ties into Beast Wars)", gives me the impression that it's a link to Beast Wars, rather than being just a reference to Beast Wars. --FFN 04:48, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Agreed on all counts. Changed accordingly. I think that was a very old entry, from before a solid tone and direction for the wiki had really been set, and there was no better place to put such commentary. -- Repowers 05:49, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
It was written just over a year ago, which isn't too old. IIRC we weren't allowed to do such speculative commentary back then. Surprised that nobody seemed to notice it for over a year, though. --FFN 05:56, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm not. There's a shitload of pages now, so keeping track of them all is a long, repetitive, and thankless task. —Interrobang 06:18, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Indeed. I just look at random articles for problems. Checking the history again, RolonBolon was the first to notice this problem, mentioning that the section may need a rewrite. --FFN 06:41, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
