The quotes

[edit]

Who's messing with them? I've already fixed them a billion times, I'm not doing it again.Kapu37 18:57, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Whenever a new episode airs for Animated, it always seems like the quotes and the references are in utter upheaval for more or less the whole week after.--RosicrucianTalk 19:06, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
But nobody wants to do an episode summary! -- Repowers 19:09, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Personally, I find the episode summaries almost write themselves if you warm up doing single-character summaries before tackling the big one.--RosicrucianTalk 19:13, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
With regards to the quotes, I did just revert a bunch of them, but you don't need to add script style quotes for just two people speaking. It's only three or more speaking, do the script style, but there's no need to go over board with just two lines of dialogue. -- SFH 19:11, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
What if someone likes script style? JW 21:10, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
I know. I used to do all my quotes in script style quotes. But really, is it neccessary for just two people talking? -- SFH 21:12, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Eh, it doesn't take up any more bytes. I think, if there's a reason to use quote-style, use quote-style, if there's a reason to use script-style, use script-style, and if there's no reason one way or the other, use whichever you like. JW 21:19, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
I wanna know who put the Megatron quote down under Porter C. Powell's pic, because I personally found it hysterical (being a huge Beast Wars fan myself).--AWT88 16:29, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

References

[edit]

Am I reading to much into it, or is "Robots. Why did it have to be robots." an Indiana Jones nod? -- Repowers 19:09, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm not even sure if that's exactly what Fanzone said. I'm recalling it as "Of course it's robots" but I'd have to rewatch it.--RosicrucianTalk 19:10, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
  • To be fair, I was thinking the same thing. --Professor Icepick 19:10, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
I may be rusty, but the first interaction between Jazz and Sari seemed awefully familiar to antics seen in an episode of Tom and Jerry called Timid Tabby in which Sari scares Jazz with the simple "boo" phrase and he spazzes.
I also think his fears of her sliming him is a Ghost Busters reference. I could be wrong.Kash 03:37, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
You're rusty (especially when using the "Show preview" button). The comedic elements of the "boo" scare are common enough in comedy/cartoon history that one source couldn't be definitively claimed. The "acid sliming" in this case is a direct reference to Sentinel's major past experience with organics: the alien spiders. (It isn't entirely accurate, but that's Sentinel.) Any relation to Ghostbusters' (non-acidic) sliming is coincidental.--Apcog 03:52, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, aight then. --Kash 16:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Inuyasha?

[edit]

"The sphere is broken in several pieces and must now be retrieved, piece by piece, by defeating enemies empowered by it until we can gather it again." It is also the main plot to anime series inuyasha , their allspark being a crystal ball with demonic powers. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.155.89.251 (talkcontribs).

The basic plot structure you refer to is very common. It's not a specific homage to anything. JW 21:10, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Atleast Sari can't detect these "shards" so there's no InuYasha reference to it. Like JW said this is common, unless there are other references or nods to the Anime series to pop up further along the story arc. Personally I think this might turn out to be an interesting story arc. Kash 04:19, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, her key lit up when they were entering the assembly line building. Does that count as 'detecting'? Kapu37 14:02, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Having a MacGuffin to detect said objects is still much older than Inuyasha. Hell, if you want a Floro Dery series, think Pirates of Dark Water. And that wasn't even the first.--RosicrucianTalk 15:34, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Eh, that wasn't a split sphere... This seemed extremely Inuyasha-esque to me. Hopefully it won't be a running theme for long.--MCRG 15:39, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Sentinel Defense System

[edit]

Oh come on, I'm sure it's a coincidence that the giant shimmering forcefield that extends to cover the spaceship in exactly the same fashion as the giant shimmering forcefield that extends to cover the spaceship in Beast Wars was activated by a guy named Sentinel.--RosicrucianTalk 01:32, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

It's... a forcefield. All forcefields look that way. --ItsWalky 01:35, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
If it disappears after being overwhelmed, it's a regular force field. If it shatters like glass after being overwhelmed, it's a Sentinel reference. -- SFH 01:42, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I was judging by the fact that it slowly spread out to envelop the whole ship. It just seemed very Sentinel-y to me.--RosicrucianTalk 01:49, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Did you really just say Sentinel-y?--AWT88 16:24, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
If he's voiced by Townsend Coleman, I have no qualms with Sentinel-y goodness :P --RosicrucianTalk 16:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to have to agree with Walky on this one. I can't see how this really constitutes a BW Homage, and the logic that 'it's a force field that something named Sentinel (despite one being the ship's computer and the other being a command officer on a ship) calls up to protect the ship' is pretty thin to make a connection. Cybertron

[edit]

I have a picture of it when Megatron displayed it on the screen, but I don't know what to do with it. [1] Kapu37 02:36, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Another reference?

[edit]

I noticed that the way Bumblebee keeps putting everyone on hold while acting as Sari's secretary is similar to an Animaniacs episode called "Temporary Insanity" when Dot Warner does the same thing. Should that be mentioned?--65.173.90.94 11:18, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

No, that gag goes back a long, long time. JW 11:38, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay, Sari (pun intended), I didn't know that.--65.173.90.94 10:51, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Image replacement

[edit]

Shouldn't we remove/replace the Prowl/Jazz pics. They've got nothing to do with the plot, which I beleive is a standard for screencaps isn't it? That it's better to have the images in the summary relate to the story, rather then more random shots User:GWolfv2 16.25 (GMT)
