Should the mention of Cybertron as the most recent incarnation of Transformers be replaced by Classics? Amadeus 19:39, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

I went ahead and changed it from Cybertron to Classics. Amadeus 19:42, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to change it to the movie line, but do we really want to have to constantly update this? Maybe it should be removed altogether.
Also, I daresay this is no longer a stub. --Sntint 06:54, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Split Species / Toyline?

[edit]

Just wondering if there was support for splitting this into two articles "Transformers (species)" and "Transformers (toyline)" or if folks prefered it as the one joint article? ZacWilliam 14:31, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I support a split. Although "toyline" isn't the right word... and neither is franchise. They both already have established meanings in our nomenclature. "Brand" would probably be best. --Steve-o 15:25, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
"Brand" seems to be the word Hasbro uses. --M Sipher 19:39, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry... did you just say the Transformers aren't robots? -Derik 21:13, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Uh, yeah. Mr. IP Address, aren't the tagline "robots in diguise", the term "robot mode", and four whole lines referring to the Transformers as robots right in their titles enough to convince you that's what they are? --Rotty 21:23, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
A robot, by definition, is ..."1. A mechanical device that sometimes resembles a human and is capable of performing a variety of often complex human tasks on command or by being programmed in advance. 2. A machine or device that operates automatically or by remote control. 3. A person who works mechanically without original thought, especially one who responds automatically to the commands of others." Try arguing with the American Heritage Dictionary, and then read the phrase "species of robot" and tell me it sounds intelligent. The Transformers are self aware and under nobody's control. Thus, they are not robots.
Also, the fact that children almost always associate the term "robot" with something like the Transformers means that Hasbro was and still is smart enough to market their product with that subtitle.
Uh, how about the fact that Transformers themselves referred to insecticide that works on other Transformers as Robotic insecticide, if you want self-reference by characters in the fiction? --Rotty 21:58, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
"And if we're talking unnatural life forms, we gotta be talking about just one thing! Robots in disguise!" - Cheetor, first episode of Beast Wars --M Sipher 22:18, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I had a valid retaliation in store, but I believe "sentient robot," which has been edited in, sums everything up. Sorry for the disagreement. -—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.98.142.204 (talkcontribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.

Toy section

[edit]

The "toys" section here is pretty much useless, particularly in light of the articles Toy, Franchise, and Transformers brand. I'm thinking a disambig up front would be a better way to do the job: "This article is about the fictional robots. For the physical toys, see..." ...hrm. See what, exactly? What say you? -- Repowers 20:24, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Aw, c'mon, we should copy-paste the Toys section from every page on the wiki into that section. It'd be hilarious.

Everybody Poops

[edit]

On the subject of Transformer biology... I thought I'd point out that Underworld! takes place in Cybertron's "long-disused sewer system." -Derik 04:45, 21 March 2009 (EDT)

In General (Abilites)

[edit]

Okay, gang; how should I go about shoehorning this into the article? I'm thinking one sentence after the one about distinct mechanical parts, but I don't want to foul up the section and force the admins to clean up my mess. How does "Some of these parts grant certain Transformers unique abilities like teleportation or the creation of holograms." sound? - Zadok Rox 15:29, 3 January 2010 (EST)

Unique digital entity origin

[edit]

I'd argue that Armada's unique digital entity origin (as described in the Armada series) is still an alternate origin. Where else were TFs created in deep space and then colonize many planets, one of which would become known as Cybertron? The AllSpark Almanac retcon can't quite erase the fact that Cybertron was colonized by TFs, even if the god who lived there somehow happened to be the same guy who created them in deep space. - Starfield 09:45, 25 May 2013 (EDT)

They're still creations of Primus. Hence, it's not different from "Primus-created". - Chris McFeely 09:58, 25 May 2013 (EDT)

Timekeeping

[edit]

1) Should it really be on this article, instead of Time and/or Units of Time?

2) Are we sure that "4th Cycle 496" isn't like "the year 496, 4th month" or something along those lines? That would give us:

Which seems to flow better to me, especially the Sherma Bridge thing coming first. - Repowers (talk) 00:38, 1 May 2014 (EDT)

As the guy who added the IDW section to begin with, I agree that it can probably be moved somewhere else by now--I mostly just wanted a place to write down the dates and that section seemed the most appropriate place at the time. It's getting kinda long now. As for how to interpret it... that order makes a lot of sense, especially since cycles as a unit of time have never been very long in the past. Maybe there's someone we can ask? --Apoc (talk) 01:07, 1 May 2014 (EDT)
I remain unconvinced either way, since the Wreckers survival rate figure should be close to present day. We should just ask James Roberts! -- Repowers (talk) 23:26, 1 May 2014 (EDT)

Cybertronian Childhood

[edit]

The page suggest that many transformers childhood is seen as a joke and doesn’t really exist, but it seem like some are meant to be serious like Wheelie being a kid and a few of the episodes of Rescue Bots Academy mention the recruits being kids, like Fun Droid. Unless many doesn’t mean all. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tf0 (talkcontribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.

Other species of Transformer?/Species of Cybertron

[edit]

I think it would be beneficial to have a section dedicated to the other species of Cybertron, if there are any. The examples that come to mind are the Cybertronian Birds and Monsterbots from Cyberverse, and the Predacons from the aligned continuity, though I am unsure if they are even considered to be of different species. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BluBoi25 (talkcontribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.
