Talk:Transformers Universe (Jagex)

Folks looking to add information to the article should check out the Edge Online article, and the commentary on said article from Polygon. Looks like the game has been changed from the initially promoted MMORPG-style game, to a MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena). Ayellowbirds 10:04, 13 December 2012 (EST)

I managed to screenshot the entire (or almost the entire) Transformers Universe website before it went down. If it's needed for reference, I've uploaded it to Google drive over here. Plasmapause (talk) 13:49, 1 November 2015 (EST)

beta

[edit]

Beta is open. Should we put that on this page? Combaticons4ever 09:38, 12 June 2013 (EDT)

This game is never coming out, is it

[edit]

Seriously. It's not. --M Sipher 22:56, 1 November 2013 (EDT)

If it does, it'll basically be the TF equivlant of Duke Nukem Forever. Escargon 22:59, 1 November 2013 (EDT)

Meltdown and Bumblebee Revealed

[edit]

The character Meltdown will appear in Transformers Universe, so don't erase my edit, please. I didn't know wether to put hum under Prime or Universe, though. Bumblebee appeared in the "Test your metal" trailer, so don't erase that, either. CheeseMan (talk) 18:57, 26 February 2014 (EST)

Could you provide a source for Meltdown's appearance, please? -- SFH (talk) 20:53, 26 February 2014 (EST)
Apparently this Vine. --abates (talk) 21:33, 26 February 2014 (EST)

Screencaps - Meltdown and Duststorm

[edit]

After seeing the two super-short clips on Vine, I thought the designs were worth grabbing screenshots of so people could get a better idea of them both. Would those be of any use to the wiki? -- Boy Blunderous (talk) 13:57, 27 February 2014 (EST)

Disambigs for New Game Characters?

[edit]

Wasn't sure what disambig to use for the new characters Meltdown and Duststorm since we have a Universe fanchise already. I went with "Game". Anyone have a better idea, that's cool too. Thoughts? --ZacWilliam1 (talk) 14:00, 27 February 2014 (EST)

I changed it to (Universe 2014), ala (Universe 2003) and (Universe 2008). "Game" doesn't make sense - it's not called "Game" (e.g. Transformers: The Game) and it's far from the only Transformers game. - SanityOrMadness (talk) 14:25, 27 February 2014 (EST)
I know we have a thing for introducing new Aligned "franchises" whenever titles don't match up, but this game (so far) is so completely and utterly Prime that this comes off as stupid. Mimi (talk) 14:38, 27 February 2014 (EST)
Oh, a serious rationalisation of (disambig)s would be nice. But that's a change that the admins won't even hear of. - SanityOrMadness (talk) 14:57, 27 February 2014 (EST)
They can just be at (Universe), since the previous Universes didn't have a Meltdown or Duststorm. For instance, we have Ramjet (Universe) rather than "Ramjet (Universe 2003)". Jalaguy (talk) 14:40, 27 February 2014 (EST)
That's making another cross-continuity family disambig though. (Prime) would be better than that (and hell, I suppose Exodus/Exiles/Retribution don't get their own (disambig)s despite not having WFC/FOC/Prime on the covers...). - SanityOrMadness (talk) 15:07, 27 February 2014 (EST)
It's already a cross-continuity tag. Though I would agree that this game is probably deserving of (Prime) tags. I mean, if I recall correctly, Exiles characters get (Prime) because we were told the book was going to "Prime" in its title at one point. If that flies, then this game's almost-but-not-quite Prime show designs ought to qualify it. Jalaguy (talk) 15:16, 27 February 2014 (EST)
Indeed. Many Transformers video games don't have titles matching up with their franchises (the Armada game, Mystery of Convoy, Cybertron Adventures, etc.), but we still realize their appropriate franchises by things other than the title. (Which this article already does, if I may note.) Mimi (talk) 08:38, 28 February 2014 (EST)

New Characters

[edit]

This will be for all newly revealed characters. As for now, Ratchet has been confirmed after appearing in Meltdown's video, so don't erase it. Please. CheeseMan (talk) 19:52, 28 February 2014 (EST)

Prequel?

[edit]

Optimus is still alive, Megatron is leader of the Decepticons, no sign of Jack or the other kids, but Arcee is there. This looks to take place between the Prequel graphic novel and the events of Transformers: Prime. BlindmelonKen (talk) 12:21, 10 June 2014 (EDT)BlindmelonKen

More likely it takes place in a micro-continuity of its own. --KilMichaelMcC (talk) 12:24, 10 June 2014 (EDT)

Terrorcons?

[edit]

Should the various Terrorcon enemies in the game get their own pages? Like Reckoners, Gladiators, Screamers, etc. I think they should at least have a section on the Terrorcon page. --Diamondmatter (talk) 22:55, 7 August 2014 (EDT)

Story?

[edit]

Before I add it in, is the Synopsis the place where the story is supposed to be added? The Seeker (talk) 20:31, 29 September 2014 (EDT)

Yes. Grum (talk) 20:23, 29 September 2014 (EDT)
It has to be in-universe though. --abates (talk) 22:25, 29 September 2014 (EDT)

Something's odd now

[edit]

I've been getting a scoop within the discussion of the Transformers Universe forum, and many members say that the game is now deviating away from the "Aligned Continuity" and deemed this game to instead be part of something new called "Transformers Generations." Now this can be a bit debatable, but notice that even though Jagex took characters from the Prime animated series, they scrapped out Agent Fowler's involvement and made the United States a more catastrophic battleground for the Autobot-Decepticon war. Additionally, the main characters from Prime have revamped designs.

Again, feel free to discuss on here or on the official forums over on the official website. I hope we can deliberate enough to come to a conclusion as to what "universe" this game takes place in. I'll keep an eye on both this site's and the forums' discussions. Thank you for your time The Seeker (talk) 22:33, 23 October 2014 (EDT)

The game is now considered to be under the "Generations" banner because that is just the term for the segment of Transformers that is more aimed at the game's target audience. --KilMichaelMcC (talk) 00:04, 24 October 2014 (EDT)

However, this game's and all articles related to it are still labeled under the "Aligned Continuity Family" The Seeker (talk) 04:50, 24 October 2014 (EDT)

That's because there's no reason to think otherwise. "Generations" is a multi-continuity label, included G1 stuff, Age of Extinction stuff, etc. There's no conflict between calling this game part of Generations and also saying it's part of Aligned. The one thing I would question is the use of (Prime) as an parenthetical if the game isn't actually part of the ended Prime franchise. --KilMichaelMcC (talk) 09:25, 24 October 2014 (EDT)

I don't know that there's much to discuss here? None of the points raised prevent the game from being Aligned. For example, Optimus and 'Bee look different to the Prime designs in Rescue Bots too (even more so than Universe), but that doesn't mean it's not part of the Aligned continuity family. Jalaguy (talk) 06:59, 24 October 2014 (EDT)

There's stuff like Dark Energon, Groundbridges, and Terrorcons in the game that all seem to hew pretty closely to their Prime incarnations, for what's that worth. Heck, I'd rather just lump them in with the rest of the Aligned guys then see more tiny articles about yet another slightly different Bumblebee, Optimus, Megatron, etc. Grum (talk) 10:05, 24 October 2014 (EDT)

The Autobot and Decepticon intro videos even give the impression of this game being set in the Aligned continuity prior to TF: Prime, right down to the Autobots' base in the game resembling the one from the cartoon, and being given to the Autobots by the government in the game like in the cartoon. If anything, this game looks to be exploring the yet-to-be-explored point in the Aligned timeline during which the Transformers first arrive on Earth. --Sabrblade (talk) 13:11, 24 October 2014 (EDT)

Weapon Information.

[edit]

Due to Transformers Universe's announcement yesterday's, don't you think we should gather the information on all the character's weapons before it's too late? StormJet (talk) 09:50, 17 December 2014 (EST)

We should do, as well as carrying over character's equipments, subsystem, wallpapers, quotes, in-game bios and of course the game guide. The game guide on the official website contains plenty of information. Also wouldn't it be better if we tried to put the equipments and weapons onto the character's page rather then make a separate page? Plasmapause (talk) 13:30, 22 December 2014 (GMT)

Leaked characters

[edit]

So some characters like Cameo and Bombast were "leaked" - people found their info in the game's underlying source code, but they were never activated so they didn't appear in-game. Bombast's art was released by one of the artists though[1]. What are we going to do with those? Are the fact that they were going to be in the game and presumably passed Hasbro approval enough? I'd be game for keeping the articles but putting them in "Things that don't exist", and moving them from the featured characters list to a note. --abates (talk) 19:22, 24 January 2015 (EST)

Contagion currently has his name on his wallpaper on the official site ( https://www.transformersuniverse.com/media/wallpapers ). Cameo also had her name on her wallpaper on the official site before they decided to update the site and include new wallpapers and remove the old ones. Bombast's promotional poster was posted by Lauren plews on the following website ( http://www.laurenplews.com/transformers/ ).

As for the information (weapons, S-techs, equipment etc) I'm not sure we should post them on those warriors, considering they were never official released.

Tomb, Mayday, Lockbox, Stiletto, Flood and any other character from the 2012 beta, I'm fairly sure can be mentioned considering we can "assume" the NDA was dropped for both the 2012 closed beta and the 2014 closed beta. Considering these characters were included in the 2012 build.
As for Rollcage, Pitstop, Breakneck, Backlash, Clear-cut and other character not used in the 2012 closed beta build, I don't think we should create articles for these warriors considering they do contain very little information as well they weren't approved as far as we know. Plasmapause (talk) 10:13, 25 January 2015 (EST)
That seems reasonable to me! If they have officially released wallpapers or were in the beta, that ought to be cool. --abates (talk) 14:38, 25 January 2015 (EST)

S-tech

[edit]

There's a lot of stuff mentioning this. What exactly IS "S-tech"? - SanityOrMadness (talk) 06:11, 25 January 2015 (EST)

I'm not completely sure myself, the devs never explained what exactly it is. All that I know is it's some sort of special ability attached to every weapon for every warrior. Plasmapause (talk) 09:39, 25 January 2015 (EST)
Recently looking through the game guide for an explanation and here's one:

"Each weapon has a unique special ability called an S-Tech. S-Techs provide a range of powerful offensive, defensive, and utility actions, but they require sufficient S-Tech charge to fire." https://www.transformersuniverse.com/en/game-guide/new-player-guide/combat-guide/weapons-and-abilities There's also a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZs8bOhISj4 Plasmapause (talk) 05:38, 27 January 2015 (EST)

Concept Artists

[edit]

Shouldn't we at least reveal names of the various concept artists that took part in Transformers Universe? StormJet (talk) 04:08, 4 December 2015 (EST)

Jess Hyland uploaded four 'fembot' models a couple of years ago to her ArtStation portfolio. Looks like she did the model for Diabla (File:TFUniverse Diabla.jpg) and Duststorm (File:Jagex Duststorm Full Robot.png), and perhaps should be credited for those? There's two there I don't know as well - maybe someone here knows them, or they're player characters or present in some unreleased content? GreenReaper (talk) 14:53, 23 February 2021 (EST)

The artstation link doesn't work for me. But I have added all the playable characters already to the list, as well as unreleased characters. I'm unsure of revealing the names of concept artists. Other pages like War for Cybertron don't have a credit list. If you wanted to credit artist, would be best to do so on IMDb. Plasmapause (talk) 08:19, 2 October 2025 (EDT)

Bios

[edit]

I'm 99% sure a lot of the bios here are just straight-up copy pasted from the website when it was up. I do not have the time to go through this shit right now, so if anyone else feels like doing it, go ahead. Escargon (talk) 13:33, 30 August 2018 (EDT)

[edit]

The links to the Theo Stylianides concept art at the end of unknown characters appears broken. Does anyone have a better way to source it or know what they were? --LOMI (talk) 21:45, 23 January 2020 (EST)

My old hard drive with all the info and pictures is gone, so I don't have any sources. I'd say move Onslaught into unused characters (he's the only one with concept art that's on his page on this wiki), oh and also move adhoc as well, and perhaps put the other "Vague characters" into notes or scrap them, since there's practically no information about most of them apart from my talks with the developers at the time. There's also quite a few dead links on this page. Makers and Innovators website no longer works, and I can't seem to find out if they are still around or not. The link to the forums is dead. I'd reccomend archiving the PC Gamer article, before it disappears. --Plasmapause (talk) 07:27, 4 April 2021 (EDT)
