Uh... visual aid

Destorn Soldier (it shoudl be Decepticon soldier, the name comes from Generations,w hich named him by the JP convention) appears in the Micromasters Battle Station comercial.

The comercial clearly bases him on Scorponok, but only very loosely. That isnt' green onhim, color-fading aside, it's dark gray (possibly greenish-gray, but definatel ynot Scorponok's green.) No shoulder cannons, and gray shoulders and legs. (and hands, but we'll ignore that)

Where did this come from?

The FIRST Micromasters comercial- the LONG one, which featured only the first wave and had animation and stop-motion footage not featured in any other comercial, showed them battling both Scorponok (original toy) and, well... not-Scorponok, as you see here. With no shoudler-cannons. And gray shoulders and legs. Destron Soldier a Wave 3(ish) Micromaster comercial was almost certainly based on this guy, meshed around a bit with Scorponok's colors. (Again, they both appeared in the same comercial.) Was he a test-shot they had lying aroudn and thre in for a comercial? A repaint? A planend re-release in new colors like Japan had because he was the right sidze to play as a Micromaster base?

Who knows. What I DO know is that that color-combination-- is not possible on Scorponok's mold. And while the color is realyl grotty int his comercial, it kicks in again for the last frame I have snapped here- where you see his colors are white, blue, and dark gray. Surprisingly similar to the Kabaya Scorponok.

That last bit is almost certianly a coincidence- Kabaya Scorponok inherited his colors from Kabaya Fort Max. But still.

Um, anyway, I was putting this up bere for responses before I added any of it to the article. I think it's well-substantiated enough to stick int he article, but I want to know if others think it's too speculative. -Derik 02:03, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

I have read this article before. I love your page.
I am contribuiting to this discussion the stuff abotu the repainted Scorponok from the 1st Micromasters comercial, which has gray laid out in the same impossible-on-the-toy manner as Giant Destron Soldier. (As seen in my visual aid) -Derik 02:18, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Looking at the commercials in question again, and at your visual aid, um... the are some problems. For one, Derek, your photoshop of toy-Scorponok in the commercial guy's colors doesn't MATCH the color layout as seen in the commercial - heck, look at the screenshots right next to it. His thighs are supposed to be blue, not white, and his shins are white, and not blue.
When you compare the color layouts of the two toys, they match.

(Some parts not colored out of lazyness.)
The only thing that doesn't match exactly to the original Scorponok toy is that the feet are a different color from the chest. However - examining photos of Black Zarak, it appears that this is not impossible with the Scorponok mold. BZ's feet are gold plastic, while his chest and shoulder guns are chrome gold. Therefore, it's not a hard leap to the idea that Blue Scorponok utilized this facet of the mold to make the legs and feet solid white.
As to Blue Scorpy versus Giant Decepticon Warrior... he's got dark grey in places that Blue Scorpy has white. I can't see a connection between them, especially since Giant Decepticon Warrior's detailing has significant departures from Scorponok's own... heck, his feet appear to be derived from Fort Max, while his torso and forearms look like they came from Cerebros. --Monzo 04:48, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

To clarify- I was proposing that Giant Decepticon Warrior was a mash-up of the two color schemes. The lack of shoudler cannosn and gray shoudlers/legs coming fromt his mystery guy, the rest coming from Scorponok. Thus loose inspiration, not pure.

I thought it seemed likely, given details (or lack thereof int he cannons) and the proximity of th two in the MM comercials. At for GDS's 'character model, I agree it's a mess, taking from multiple sources. -Derik 05:16, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

"兵士" usually refers to "soldier" instead of "warrior" (戦士). --TX55TALK 03:59, 11 September 2009 (EDT)

Torso and forearms from Cerebros?

[edit]

I realized I'm challenging an assertion made 17 years ago, but to me, the forearms and torso don't look like Cerebros at all... neither the toy, the cartoon model, or the Japanese Headmasters anime model. They look as much like Cerebros as they do dozens of other Transformers. They're just very generic looking. Does anyone agree that this small part of the article about Cerebros should be removed, since it seems to be incorrect? Might Gaine (talk) 17:13, 18 February 2023 (EST)

I'll just add a "possibly" to that bit. ThatGuy79 (talk) 12:24, 2 March 2023 (EST)
